weekly d00d's 52 in 2016 ... week 52 celebration

Nice spot, she looks very strange in that urban environment, pity about the top of her head.

Great odd find. Who would meditate in a busy road? Nice use of DoF and the inclusion of the legs in the foreground. Perfect timing!

Nice one David, spot on for the theme, slight shame you lost the top of her head but ideal none-the-less
Thanks Chris ... I put some thought into cropping top and/or LHS and decided top of head missing is perfectly good compo and it helps to bring the viewer down to the subject. I also considered cropping more/all the head to make her hands the focal point! :D

I've now added the SOC to my week 34 post ... what do you think?

She is just starting to "rise" that's why (y) :D

Well spotted David, nicely fits the theme.
(y)

Very apt David, love the DoF, bang on with the background and the legs walking into the frame, perfect timing and love the placement of the shoes in the shot, Nice One (y)

Wrong Choice :naughty:

:exit:
You're quite right of course :p

Mad isn't it!

Thanks Bernd ... I took three quick shots ... one with no legs, one with two pairs, and this with the one pair ... and yes I was pretty lucky with my timing. :)

The crop does work in that it gives her a sort of floating out of the frame kind of feel and perhaps adds a bit more interest if any was needed, sorry I didn't get it in the first place.

Hey Chris ... that ... sort of floating out of the frame kind of feel ... is a nice way of putting it.

But at the end of the day it's all Marmite.

so ... :ty:

Hi d00d :) smashing original choice for Game, all those yummy things to eat and perfect for the topic.

Another great find for Serene, not sure if she's praying or meditating or both. How amazing to be able to switch off when everyone is walking by.

thanks honey

I'm now wondering if the Chinese lady was selling something (?)

I see these things, take a couple of quick snaps and move on. A non photographer might eye the situation differently.

Lo e the floaty feeling of Serene so I think you did good d00d to make the crop you did.

More great street photography from you this week

Great catch David.

The person walking into the scene just makes her seem more.....serene! :-)

I'm loving your street shots at the moment - some fascinating people/situations captured. The colours in static are fab and I like the sense of focus and movement in game, though I might have made the man the focus and lost a little sharpness on the signs or stopped down a little. Serene is my favourite - such an interesting face and strange juxtaposition of peace and bustle.

lol at @Cobra's comment.
I was thinking it could do with some pp to make her float above the pavement. Nice one @d00d

(y) and thanks for all your input Emma ... I agree about the food vendor, at the time I was only concerned about the food labels being in focus.

All these last three were shot with my new lens 85mm f/1.8 @ f/1.8 a very shallow field.

Serenity in a bustling cityscape - excellent interpretation David and good choice to include the moving legs.

Serenity in a bustling cityscape ... hmm well one pair of leg anyway.

Cheers Carl. (y)

Great arrangement of blacks and whites, spot on for the theme, nicely framed (y)

You are very stylish in that there London, excellent take on the theme (y)

Yay that's a cool pic d00d ....love the shoes and socks ....and with the black and white floor too ...perfik combination :)

Hope you don't mind but just tried it in pure B&W
Yes you're right the B&W conversion is a bit dull with no trace of those subtle un B&W bits. But, cool, thanks dear.

Thanks Chris ... not perfectly symmetrical or without flaws .......

Thanks Allan ... DMs are a northern thing no doubt ... but us southerner can share the fun.;)

Oh I like that David.
The floor pattern somehow gives it a 3D feel!

It reminds me of Gulliver standing on a chess board in Lilliput :D
Nice idea David and the hint of colour sets it off well.

Serene - a good scene. On first look I agreed with others about the crop but having looked again and reading your explanation I have changed my mind, it does work cropped like that. The legs work well in adding a sense of movement and add to her sense of peacefullnes.

Black and White - Good choice, lots of different lines and patterns. Like it alot.

Thanks Ruth ... my new 85mm f/1.8 produces nice results too.

Like it. Great POV, detail and DOF. Cheers.
Cheers Andy

A great collection of contrasting areas, works well for the theme David.
I think I would pump up the contrast though.
Hey Tim .... I've just tried upping contrast but I lose detail in the laces especially, but I guess it could be done selectively, I dunno.

Thanks yes I was avoiding the old mono conversion.

I love that David, again another colour black and white that works perfectly, great DoF and love all the different textures, the socks make it that more special for me (y)
... another colour black and white! another yes allan did a good one didn't he! Glad you like the socks m8. Funny how this idea came together in three stages ... 1. thought I must do something on the garden path. 2. thought of the bosses B&W shoes so it was to be shoes with no feet. 3. finally remember those socks.

Thanks for your input Steve .... appreciated. (y)

Wonderful take David - the brogues are fabulous. Ms. d00d is very trendy.

Great photo, lots of different types of B&W in there, and good that you didn't do a B&W conversion on it.

Thanks Bernd. I'm pleased you like it for what it is. (y)

Serene David, strange to see in the middle of the street or is it nowadays ? Suits the theme really well to me

Sorry very behind on comments

Static - an interesting shot I really like the old van shame if its not used.
Game - great take on the theme
Serene - bang on the theme well spotted slightly better with the top of her head but I don't mind the version with out it.
Black and White - love the mix of patterns and all the better for being in colour

I do love a DM and those are quite magnificent! Great choice for the theme and you were absolutely right not to go for the conversion - that's a very eye catching image.
(y) ... quite magnificent!

Yes it's pretty strange Chris ... Gerrard Street is pedestrian-only, the centre of Chinatown, and thinking about it now, she may have been part of some promotion or something. I was concentrating of getting a handful of shots then disappearing into the crowd. :)

Please don't apologise minx .... you're not as bad as me at falling behind with comments. :) ... Thanks (y)

Love your visual tours of London David. This one has Dan Brown overtones. Lovely architectural detail and those faces - thought they were theatrical to begin with but cannot be. Excellent.

Scary faces!
Good fit for the theme David.
My only crit is I'd like to see just a tad more room above the faces, especially the one on the left.
