That's not how it works... the lens has to be set to the smallest aperture because the aperture spring in the lens wants it to be at the smallest. The aperture arm on the body then opens the aperture against the spring tension. If you set the aperture to max mechanically you have simply removed all spring travel/adjustability. It may seem to be working, but I doubt it's actually working correctly. There's no setting that can change this; it's the mechanical design.Just cracked it, turned off orange button on lens set aperature to 3.5 widest aperature not smallest aperature f32 and now it works. !
If the Sigma lens is an OS version Sigma can update the firmware to be compatible with Nikon's 153 point AF system. If not, then it's manual focus only on those bodies. At least that is what they told me when my non-OS 150mm macro wouldn't focus.Will not work on the sigma 105mm macro.
