As above, have set f32 locked button to orange dot, set menu setting f4 to sub command dial, turned menu setting b4 to off. none of my d lens will change aperature but all work with my d300 so lens fine ? any ideas please.
That's not how it works... the lens has to be set to the smallest aperture because the aperture spring in the lens wants it to be at the smallest. The aperture arm on the body then opens the aperture against the spring tension. If you set the aperture to max mechanically you have simply removed all spring travel/adjustability. It may seem to be working, but I doubt it's actually working correctly. There's no setting that can change this; it's the mechanical design.
If the Sigma lens is an OS version Sigma can update the firmware to be compatible with Nikon's 153 point AF system. If not, then it's manual focus only on those bodies. At least that is what they told me when my non-OS 150mm macro wouldn't focus.
Thanks, working now, what threw me was that the aperature setting was not showing on the top lcd but have realised the only way to see a difference in aperature is by using the dof preview button.
