Yes
clutching at straws maybe but a dear friend of mine's son was killed around 9pm last night on the A151 in Bourne Rd, Spalding (Lincs).

He was wearing a hi vis jacket so the driver had no excuse not to see him. The lad's lights were still on when his mother found him dead in a ditch.

This breaks my heart :(

The car will be extensively damaged and the driver needs to be found. If you have any info please contact the police

that is sad
my sister used to live in spalding and some of the roads there are very dangerous
plenty of drink drivers in the area as well
hope he rests in peace

Oh Summer that is horrific news.....being a cyclist myself, I am aware how vulnerable we can be particularly in the dark but there is simply no excuse for "Hit and Run"

I pray that the driver is found and brought to justice!

thanks guys - I put it on here cos I know some members live in the area (I'm in Basingstoke, so far away, but I needed to do something to help)

me and my kids all cycle a lot too - even the dog goes in her trailer - don't know whether to be angry or upset :(

I'm of no help Summer but I'm sorry to hear about your friend.

Fingers crossed that any investigation finds the culprit.

Really deeply sorry to hear that Summer.
What an awful thing to happen, and for the driver to not even stop is just beyond comprehension :shake:

I'm afraid I don't know anyone in that area, but I hope that somebody has seen something and goes on to do the right thing.

Thoughts are with you and your friend's family.

sorry to hear that :(

i hate driving around spalding, been up there a few times for work, the roads have very long straigh sections and there are some crazy speeds and overtaking done..

hope they catch the driver (or the guilt gets to them) and they get whats coming to them.

thanks guys - just hoping he takes the car to a garage for repair, or maybe his family see it on the news and call the police :(

(PS when I say he it's because it's easier than saying he/she. Maybe I should just say 'it')

Be sure to keep us updated with this Summer....I'm pretty confident that the police will catch up with the driver....an injury is one thing, a death is quite another and i doubt it will be taken lightly.

I will Asha, just hope I have stuff to update. Seems the road is still closed.

Sorry to hear that Summer, so very sad.

Hope the driver is caught very soon.

thanks Michelle, me too

That's terrible news and you're right to publicise it. You never know the outcome. I've t***ted© this thread.

Tragic news and my deepest condolences to the family. John Denman is now hitting Twitter so hopefully it will be getting more coverage even as we speak.

thanks guys - I twitted it too but not many followers on my profile

Barring it being a stolen vehicle or one from abroad I think the police will run the driver to earth. They do make exhaustive checks in such cases.
Dreadfull event and what an appalling experience for the mother.

Just horrific, dont even want to imagine it. ...so sorry to hear this. Hang in their.

Awesome!!

condolences hopefully they'll get caught and get the maximum sentence

thanks everyone. Ste has been asked to do an appeal on Look North

I'm not far away. The Police will do there utmost to find the culprit. The roads around here have always been bad but recently have become alot worse. This is mainly down to Eastern Europeans working in the area. They travel in gang vans/groups etc and have no respect for anybody else. Im not implying that they are responsible for this tragic event but I travel the area every day.

Please pass on my condolences to the family.

The person responsible for this needs to be found and needs to go to jail, not from the area and to be honest not sure that anyone in my friend network is in that area but I have shared this thread on both Facebook and Twitter requesting to be Shared and Re-tweeted

I will, thanks Sil, and thanks too Matt

So sorry to hear this really sad news Summer

if you don't mind will post over on another popular UK based forum, if any more details come through about car involved etc then keep post updated....

thanks Tony, all help gratefully received. Police now saying it's a van

This is creatures son, well known dj. The news is already over several motorbike forums so hopefully the driver gets found soon.

Lets hope the mongrel is caught very soon and dealt with in the proper manner. Having lived in Donington, between Boston and Spalding, I know only too well how the roads can be used as rat runs and speed tracks.

I've tweeted to try and spread the word, someone out there will have noticed a damaged vehicle by now.

This is awful and tragic news, and I hope they catch the ****** driver very soon.
I don't think Terry's reply that there are plenty of drink-drivers in the area is useful at all....there are plenty everywhere.
Please keep us updated because it would be nice to know the ****** is caught.

believe it might be a van not definite.

Terry was probably referring to the large number of Eastern Europeans in the area. Lots of them allegedly ignore British law and drive drunk and uninsured.

Good to see that the word is spreading and hopefully it'll prick the conscience of somebody who knows something. I just can't imagine what his family and friends are going through :shake:

Summer,
Can I just ask for a bit of caution in posting any details about the vehicle / driver that police may have made available to the family though?
I don't mean this in an uncaring way, but if this information hasn't been released publicly yet or is unconfirmed, then it isn't right for it to be made known here.

Thanks,

thanks Guys - Byker do I know you from the biker forums? Sarah, I hear what you're saying but Ste has made the info public himself so should be ok here.

Mark - apologies if you know more about this than me, but according to Ste the police left no doubt about it

latest news here

"UPDATE Sunday Noon: POLICE investigating the hit and run death of cyclist Timothy Osborn have released details of a vehicle that may have been involved.

As the investigation into the death of the 27-year-old from Bourne Road, Pode Hall continues, police have said they are looking for a silver Transit-style van.

It may be a Renault Trafic, Vauxhall Vivaro or Nissan Primastar model and was believed to have been in the area at the time of Friday night’s fatal collision.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, the collision witness hotline – 01522 558855 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111."

Hopefully this is when CCTV would be very useful.

No worries, at the time it as unconfirmed and I hate witch hunts. They have since confirmed and lots of the locals have FB posts up about it.

from Ste...

JUST GOT SOME GREAT NEWS FROM THE POLICE

A man has been arrested and they have a vehicle.
