I want to take some photos in town when the Tour of Britain comes through next week. The plan is then to ride out to Exmoor to catch them again. This would mean my camera being in my bag on my back for around 50 miles.

I'm worried about condensation, it will be a fast bike ride out to Exmoor and there's a good chance my bag will get hot.

Does anyone have any experience of cycling with their camera?

Cycled many times with my camera rucksack on my back, but not over 10miles, you could always try a pannier bag on the bike or a saddlebag if your worried about condensation.

if you're cycling the 50 miles :cuckoo: then what i'd do, is hopefully use a waterproof backpack and wrap the camera in a towel. (I'm used to ride with a largish bag on my bike, as i do all day mountain bike rides) You will get hot, and sweaty, but the camera should be fine. I've carried electronics in my bags many times when out on the bike, and never had a problem with condensation.

I've done the Marin trail (25km I think mountain bike trail in Wales) I had the camera, 3 lenses and flash gun in my rucksack and tbh it wasn't too bad...

are there any camera bags that can be used for things like sysling or are most just using standard pack plus jiggery-pokery to get gear inside?

How about a multi-winged glider, intended to be pedaled like a bicycle

Might be a stupid suggestion but can you get some of those silica gel packs and leave one in the bag? They suck up moisture dn't they?

I got some big (fag packet sized) silica gel packs with my new sofas, they should be more effective than the little ones you get with shoes etc, it might be worth getting hold of some of them...

A couple of weeks ago I ordered some 5g Silica gel packets on Ebay. They do loads of sizes. In the end I packed my bag and covered with a spare base layer qhich are good at absorbing moisture. I also found my Bergahus rucksack cover which did a nice job of protecting the bag. Certainly made the ride feel longer! Every one else with their big lenses had turned up by car :)
