Hi Guys/Gals :)

I bought a roll of background paper a couple of months ago, its still unopened, and it seems like its too big to be stored anywhere in the house.....its massive! :gag: I went for the 3 metre wide roll....

I was just wondering whether it would be possible to cut the width down a little....?

Hopefully this doesnt involved unrolling the paper, as its 11m long!!!

Clearly this was an impulse buy, and i didnt think properly, or measure up before buying!! :bonk::shake::cuckoo:

Any input would be mucho appreciated! :D:thumbs:

I think the easiest way would be to use a fine toothed saw. Then maybe cut down the edge with some shears once its on the background support system. You could use a sharp knife, but you'll not get a straight edge anyway, and risk cutting yourself.

I got my paper 2.75m is just right behind my soffa :)

no. bought it like that :)
I never seen 3m paper roll tbh. i got my from here:

Not too sure yet.. :(

I need to measure up....

I they're stood up, do they tend to bow? Is it best to lie them flat?

I'd probably cut it down to a size which will fit in my car.....

They tend not to bow, although that will depend on the angle they are stood at. With vinyl, you can get a flattening of the edge due to the weight, and I would suspect the same thing may happen with paper if you aren't careful.
2.7m can usually fit in a car. Front passenger footwell through to rear corner. Depends on your car though. Hope you don't drive a mini or fiat 500

I have a Passat CC which is basically a passat saloon with some remodelling so I guess it represents a typical saloon car?

My back seats fold down allowing a 2.72 background to go through the boot and it sits nicely just about touching the fascia of my stereo area. I don't know about your 3 series but do you have similair options?

Some 3 series come with partially folding back seats, unfortuantely, mine isn't one of them! :(

I've got some cardboard tubes which i can measure how long a roll i can actually fit in the car.....Will have to check that out sometime soon!

I like the 1.72mtr size for it's transportability, no good for group shoots but for a single or couple it's fine. Trouble is you can't get many colours in that length, so I have to use a saw to trim a smidge off the next size up. It's heartbreaking to cut a tenners worth off the end :'(

Find a saw with really fine teeth, and support the roll and you'll be ok.......remember though, measure twice and cut once ;)
