For the first theme of 2026, Lines and Angles, I went with this:

At wrong angles by Sparkling Pictures, on Flickr

I also considered this one, and whilst there are some lines and angles here, it felt quite secondary so I went with a the bold literal interpretation this time!

1st image, well spotted, well done;)

Not entirely sure what I’m looking at here, but it’s certainly a striking image that fits the theme.

I agree with Simon very striking. What is it?

Another vote for a strong shot (two in fact), and I too have no real idea what it is.

I think the one twisted line is especially effective.

Nice one Mark :)

I'll repeat what everyone else has said.

The second one is a nice well processed photo, but doesn't quite work for the theme for me.

I prefer the second image. The first is more obviously on theme - even if I (also) don't really know what it is.

That said, sometimes it's good to be more obtuse, sometimes better to be more 'linear' (pardon the pun) just to mix things up.

Thank you everyone! The black and white striped image is actually just white box on a white bit of flooring with a striped gobo projected on it!

I try fit the theme by finding interesting things by walking around and seeing what I can get... for no other reason other than i can visit more pubs that way!

Great image Mark. I think that second shot would have been a great choice as well.

I'm in the minority but I much prefer the second image Mark. The fence lines stand out nicely and the gulls, both static and blurred, really make the shot.

Interesting take there Mark, well constructed

Good shot for the theme and thanks for letting everyone know what it is:) We have a torch with various gobo things but the edges are soft - think we should have got a light that can focus instead of looking at the best/lowest price :)

Good prep on the panel whoever did that, nice colour and I like the chiaroscuro effect.

Thank you chaps!

I’m a massive fan of chiaroscuro and using shadows to create depth and tension, to create an image that looks real, but also like it’s disconnected and not within any kind of environment sort of how we remember rather than how we see

Great shot Mark, keeping the paint can in the image is perfect.

Really like this one. A different take from most on the theme which is always interesting to see and a fantastic image. Like many have said leaving the can is in perfect and adds such story to the image.

Great colour, also had to look up chiaroscuro- something else to think of now :), as above paint can makes the shot

As above! Great image, who knew paint could be such an interesting image! Love the colours and composition and take on the theme.

Thank you everyone, I must admit it was a great chance find when I was out on a wonder - it looked like it had only been painted a day or two before at most because was it so shiny, almost in a 1990s CGI way.

For week 3, Windows and Doors I went with this image,

Love your chosen shot Mark but the second shot really made me stop and stare.

Nice set and it must have been tricky to choose one from those, the abstract nature of the second appeals to me the most.

They're all good window shots. I think you picked the right one though, I really like the composition and processing.

Good set for windows, form over function stands out for me though like your chosen shot, think your shadow in the 3rd shot spoils it a bit - for me anyway

Thank you for your kind words, everyone!

These were all taken a bit out of my usual patch - in Harlow. A very interesting place, quite oppressive and quite beautiful in its own way. The town is very rundown in places but the decay is absolutely fascinating and the winter sun when comes out really gives definition to those brutalist edges.

Rust and Decay - a really striking graphic image.

Windows and Doors: Love the pigeon as a focal point for the shot.
