The TP 52 - 2025 Cuthbert's 52 for 2025

You caught the light well on this. A tighter crop onto the number on the red door might have brought out the weathering and texture more, added some different interest

Thanks Alan, it was the 7 I was first drawn to and I do have a few different compositions of this shot, including going in closer but the hard shadow to the left, plus the fact that the height of the 7 (and the door) would mean that I would need to tilt the camera upwards and distort the horizontal lines on the door to frame it (only had a 24mm prime with me and the camera I was using didn’t have a flip out screen), it didn’t quite work. I also found the definition of the shadows was the most pleasing when seen wider - - I do have a tighter version I am happy with but I preferred the wider view, I thought the jumble and the building itself was quite curious!

I like the shadow on the red door creating in effect a miniature door withing the door

Sorry, I somehow missed your earlier posts and just catching up. Really like the tone and composition of your photos - very intriguing and cinematic I think. Lots of tension from some very inanimate settings. Brilliant, looking forward to more !

I liked the layers of horizontalness - the horizon, the boats, the water, and the ropes - taken at Wells in Norfolk. A rather quaint little town, absolutely wonderful chips from French's, highly recommend.

Nice set Mark, I like your chosen one and #3 the best.

An interesting set and I really like No3 even if it is more verticals!

Thank you, that is very kind - it's very much what I'm going for!

Thank you!

Good chosen shot, but I really like grittiness of the last one. I think it would suit mono, too.

These are the bits of our towns and cities that really intrigue me - Ely is a genuinely really pretty little place and all that decay and rubbish could actually be hidden really easily ,and yet, there it is!

Here's a different view, somebodies little smoking chair!

I like your estuary at Wells.

thank you!

Thank you! yes, I thought it was stretching the theme just a bit too much lol!

Some good shots there. Had to do a double take on #8, I know that alley its the back of that butchers shop on the square in Ely. Small world...

thank you - it is indeed! if you look in my Flickr you'll see some places that are very much on your patch! (I actually live in Norfolk not Cambridgeshire, but close to the border so it's a regular haunt)

I reckon the attached image is the very same bridge your contribution is from the week as well - and I did regret not persuading my wife to stop off and have a pint at the cutters!

I agree with m’learned colleague, no 3 for me. The verticals standing proud of the horizontals works well

Yep nice set. I'm a big fan of Kings Cross :p

At least it's all in the bin, I don't envy whoever has to collect all that though (well, nobody is by the looks of it!)
I like the angle of it too, really adds to the atmosphere :ROFLMAO:

More great shots - I like horizontal #3 - really bold and well framed image and the fact it was submitted for 'horizontal' made me look right through the colums!
Great perspective on Kings Cross, though I think your last shot takes it for me

Dog poo bin is brilliant!!

Found this which I think fitted the theme, I was torn with this and a couple of the runners up this week just because whilst the pic ticks all the boxes for the theme, does so in a slightly predictable way.

I couldn't compose the chair shot exactly as I wanted to as it was in a walkway but I just love the clutter and messiness, and I'm thinking,,, 'just who on earth would sit in this chair and have a cushion like this??'

I like your chosen shot best too, but the chair pic leads to a lot of questions :ROFLMAO: I like how it's composed too, as you say the clutter makes it a very curious pic

Catching up...I like your chosen shot for "animals" but the shot of the bronze lion(?) really grabbed my attention. I think that your chosen shot for "broken" is the right one but I do agree with Megan about #2 leading the viewer to ask more questions.

I prefer images two and three with two being more stimulating for me, is the chair actually broken or is it just the backrest cushion?

Thank you for your kind comments as always!

@Barney -it's the cushion, broken picture frames in the background and the visual chaos in that scene! The photo was taken at Ickworth House, and I absolutely love dark dingy massively excessive national trust properties that on one hand are often have perfectly decorated exuberant interiors and then on the other, these little corners of junk and granny heaters, bring back to earth how impractical and wasteful those spaces mostly are... that always gives me a good chuckle!

Beautiful shots, every one so well lit!

I think mind the step is my favourite for the perspective, lighting and really strong texture
