The TP 52 - 2025 Cuthbert's 52 for 2025

A good couple of shots and I like the way the graffiti has faded over the time the surrounding trees have grown.

A good set.

I did wonder about the title of your chosen image; but perhaps, as I scrolled through the others, I got an idea of why you did that.

If you hadn't given the game away with the time of day you could have got away with it.

I really like all of those. There’s something very pleasing and a definite skill about making the mundane subjects interesting and you’ve definitely pulled it off :)

I'd definitely have believed that was morning light. Nice set of images and I like the theme you picked for yourself.

Thank you! Hunstanton is a surreal place - not only does it have a lot of decay which is visually interesting, it also has a curious kind of emptiness, if you’ve ever watched Father Ted, it’s a bit like Craggy Island. I suppose a lot of seaside towns are like this, it’s a shame because it actually has got worse over the last few years (and it’s always been pretty bad)

That’s genuinely one of the nicest compliments I could have - thank you! - i really do love to try and find beauty in the every day, in the things most people pass by, but also, to document the decay and decline of our world - how all the nice shiny stuff is only so superficial.

I'd definitely have believed that was morning light. Nice set of images and I like the theme you picked for yourself.

Thank you - I didn’t want to do a sunrise (or in this case, sunset) directly, but wanted to show how our suns magical touch erases the gray to make even ugly things interesting. That’s what I’ve been loving about this challenge, it’s sent me into some places I wouldn’t normally have gone, especially at this time of year.

Thank you again everyone for your kind words.

I do like your shot, but you should know that your link in the main thread goes through the @nog's page for some reason.
Thank you - and not sure how I managed that!!

Week 5, Snappers Choice.

I was bit pushed for time this week and I couldn't do my usual quest, my personal theme for this snappers choice was decline and decay, whilst doing what I can with the light I had, which was a bit harder than I would have liked, but I liked the challenge of trying to find things that worked in the hard winter light.

I rather like you chosen shot - raises the question of why the buoys are out the water. Hopefully something is there backfilling their function.

I like the colours and composition of your chose shot Mark, but I am drawn to the shot of the doorway (I like doorways and windows with character). That is a location that I would go back to, looking for just the right light.

I too am drawn to the doorway, liking the light and shade and the textures.

The buoys might have worked better with a slight reduction to the exposure, feels like there are colour depths that we're not seeing.

Nice set!

You do realise it's only Sunday, right? "A bit pushed"

Indeed! It was quite intriguing and I was immediately drawn to their rather weathered appearance - all that stuff looked like it had been there a very long time, mind you, that whole area didn't look like it had seen much love for the last 50 years. I wasn't even sure if was part of some preservation effort, but it seemed improbable as it all locked so knackered.

I liked it too - indeed, it's nestled in amongst quite a few buildings, it's hard to imagine how the sun would like at different times of the day because there are quite a few buildings in the way seem like it would block the sun completely - I actually quite liked the shape of the light fell across the front, the reason I didn't pick that shot over the one I did is that didn't like the colour, had it been a royal blue or red, it would have worked better - it had a kind of monochromatic look that i felt needed something more.

Thank you - I did try that when I was editing, as well as bringing up the shadows but settled for where it was, which is pretty close to how it looked in real life (the light was hash), I liked that the shadows give some depth, but, it would have been better had the light been overall softer and sun lower, but... it was one of those days where I couldn't stick around - which was shame because the light would have been absolutely perfect had I hung around.

Nice set!

Thank you -I do one of those jobs where I get up and get home in the dark during the winter months - start of BST is when a whole new window of opportunities gets opened up for me and I haven't got the pressure of trying to get it done during just the weekend!

Maybe processed in b&w with the clarity and texture sliders pushed a bit?

Both your chosen shot and the door work I like a bit of harsh light.

I too am quite drawn to the doorway, but find it too tight on the RHS - work a revisit perhaps.

I like the navigation buoys on the quayside - IALA Lateral Marks mostly (that's more than you ever wanted to know). Are they parked? There's a sign preventing such action!

I like the bouys shot Mark.
I'd be tempted to push the post processing a little towards HDR to see if the colours can pop a little, but that's something I often do anyway just to experiment.

I like 'Bleak' from your afternoon light shots, and the second shot from your snappers set is brilliant - brilliant light and framing. Really enjoying your pictures all round!

a very boring image from me, unfortunately, no sun this weekend, no sun today, and none forecast for the rest of the week so I'm going to cut my losses and submit this dull image from castle rising castle from the weekend.

I don't have any other images which didn't make it this time so here's a couple of photos I've taken that would have been conceptually similar to what I would have gone for this week,, depending on how the light turned out and where I ended up. Very disappointing weather and light, unfortunately, at least it's on the turn!

I like the creative take on your chosen shot. Using the silhouette to frame the main subject but your third shot is far and away the better image in my opinion.

Nicely done for your chosen shot but your final archive picture is great.

Love the open gate in the triple frame, very enticing.

That is definitely the look of "Hurry Up! It's cold out!"
They've got a bladder the size of a shoebox when it suits them. If there is any suggestion their feeties could get cold and wet, they turn into a sack of spuds have to almost be thrown out lol!

I recognise that look - hope you didn't keep them waiting too long

I like your chosen image, you looking through the window at him (her?) looking back at your through the window, but...I really, really like your second shot...just sayin'...:)

Lol, definitely getting the look "why am I waiting in the cold" :).

Shame about the window latch cutting across the dog, but the dogs look great.

Thank you! The mundane minimalism of the radiator is very much my style, it was a close call!!

Looks a little light the droplights found on old Mk1 carriage doors, but I very much doubt that it is.

I was thinking I had a special back door but then I realised this was probably a reply to the pic above mine in the main thread lol!

How could you do that to them!

Trust me, don’t feel too sorry for them. They spend most of their evenings laying fully stretched out legs in air on an electric blanket!!

Shame about the window latch cutting across the dog, but the dogs look great.

Thank you - it was, sadly. they were in that position for a single frame and had jumped up going mad as soon as they saw me so I couldn’t frame them any better annoyingly!!!
