Our washing machine decided to die last Tuesday, looked around and it seems the prices are all very similar, so I decided to buy from Argos (about the cheapest brand name machine, an Indesit). I was a little annoyed to be charged £8.95 for "standard delivery" and surprised that the delivery was a week away (Wednesday the 6th). We decided to stay with the order and wait, as it was about the only brand name under £250ish.

Fast forward to today and the Currys advert was on TV advertising a similar Indesit machine, £40 cheaper than Argos (and another £10 voucher to follow) and even though I placed the order at about 18h00 this evening, they offered a £10 delivery for tomorrow, or £2.95 delivery over the weekend and free delivery on Monday.

They also offer to remove the old machine free of charge and after choosing the £10 delivery option for tomorrow they emailed me a link to a tracking site which now tells me the order is processed and the machine will be delivered tomorrow between 17h30 and 19h30.

Currys seem to have a pretty good order system in place now, let's hope that the man in the lorry manages to be as efficient ;).

I actually did remember :), surprisingly, the call was as lacklustre as their other service, no personality at all from the Argos "drone" (that's how she acted, not used as an insult), didn't ask why, didn't interact at all beyond asking for the order number and then saying "That's done, goodbye then".

Argos must be doing really well not to care about £250 orders .
