I currently own a Nikon D60 along with a Sigma 150mm 1:2.8 APO MACRO DG HSM and Sigma 70-300mm D 1:4-5.6 APO DG.
Looking to buy a Tokina 12-24 or Sigma 10-20 and would like to know if any or all these lenses would be compatible with a D700.

A D700 is my desire but if my current lenses are not compatible with it i may have to stop buying any further equipment.

Please help!:bonk:

Did you check the lenses manufacturers websites?

I can answer the question, and am happy to do so, but this information is easy to find by going to Sigma and Tokina's websites.

In this case, neither the Sigma of Tokina wide angles are suitable, your longer lenses are fine.

If you are serious about spending that sort of money on a D700, a bit of friendly advice would be to do a bit of research about the difference between a full frame and DX camera.

Your DG lenses are compatible with the full frame sensor in the D700 so would be a direct fit. I think the 10-20 is for the DX sensor only, it'll work on the D700 but only using a smaller portion of the sensor so it'd be a silly purchase if you are getting the D700.
I don't know the Tokina range at all.

As you say Puddleduck, the info requested can be obtained via other avenues but as always somebody will come up with great suggestions that had not been considered ie; differance between a full frame and DX camera. Something i will research.

Many thanks for the helpful replys.

A D700 is my desire ...
I can't help wondering why you want a D700 if you don't know the difference between FX and DX cameras... ?

I mean, what thought process led you to conclude that the D700 was right for you whilst completely bypassing the FX/DX issue?

I was away to ask this very question... WHY exactly is it that you want a D700?

Sorry to reply late but i have been away.

Having read various photograpic articles i thought my next progession would be the D700, however, since reading Puddleducks response i have looked into Full Frame and DX and maybe the D300 could be my next purchase.

ALL your replys and advice are very gratefully received and considered.

Many thanks.
