Hi everyone just wondered if any of you guys have been to Cuba, we are going to Cayo Guillermo soon am really looking forwards to it :)
we went in November 2006 and saw quite a lot by exploring the mangoves at the back of the hotel.
I did not see many flamingos though but I think it was the wrong time of year.
I have since found out about a wildlife reserve on Cayo Coco called El Baga that does guided birdwatching trips.
be nice to see some sun too :)

Wow, you lucky thing! Lou and I been to Cayo Guillermo twice now, (we stayed at the Melia,) and its just fantastic imo! Our second visit was for our wedding - had the most amazing two weeks!

A keen bird photographer was with us too - I can ask him to get in touch with the local places he visited if you like?:)

Can't wait to go back oneday...

Great pic - thanks for sharing. If this is a taster for your April trip, I can't wait to see them :):):)

Have a brilliant time. Like Ian, I can't wait to go back there. We last went in October 06 - so just missed you then. It will be interesting to hear about different wildlife and weather at this time of the year.

Did you see the pic on the link of the pier at the Melia - I hope they manage to rebuild it - it was a great place for sunrise shots, and for Ian and Lou's wedding pics. :)

Hi Jean I havent managed to look at the site yet they must be offline or I'm having computer trouble again
I'm counting down the days to go :)
Is the pier at the Melia closed ? it was OK when I went I still remember the friendly pelican at the end who scrounged fish from the anglers
When we went in november it was quite windy we are hoping it will be calmer in april.

Sadly it has been destroyed in a storm and, as always, in Cuba, you can't just get stuff repaired/rebuilt. :'(
