Cs5 v cs6

ATM I'm using cs5 but my partner has asked would I like cs6 for xmas what are the differences between the 2

This summarises the new features of CS6.

I went from CS4 to CS6 and the performance is markedly improved. Ive played around with the new toys in CS6, like content-aware patch and the blur gallery that are both ok.

The biggest thing for me was the 64bit performance though. Much faster to do stuff

Agree about the 64bit performance - and I like the content aware tool as well.

No regrets so far on upgrading.

For me the biggest improvement is the new 2012 raw process, much better IMHO.

Better but not really worth the upgrade just yet I don't think. Lr4 has the 2012 raw process so not really needed in Ps (depending how you edit of course).

Lr is a cheaper upgrade to get the RAW processing - and better management of your images.

One thing to bear in mind is that if you don't upgrade CS5 to CS6, there is no upgrade path to CS7, so you'd have to buy it, or any future version of Photoshop, at full price.

Previously Adobe allowed you to upgrade from 2 versions prior to the current one (e.g. CS3 -> CS5) with CS6 it's from the last version (i.e. CS5) only.

I'd heard that they had said the same about CS4->CS5, but eventually extended it anyhow, I could be wrong :shrug:
