Yes
Im trying to resize an image from say 14in x 11ins with a resolution of 240 pixels/ins to 10ins on its longest side to whatever the 'constrain proportions' will allow on the other side and to increase the resolution to 350pixels/ins.
When I 'Save as' PS asks me if I want to replace the original so I click OK.
When I come to close the altered image PS again asks me if I want to save changes to the Adobe document before closing.... if I click Yes here it takes me to a dialogue box where I can only save it as a Jpeg 2000 and then onto another screen which finally saves it as a JPF file which does not show a thumbnail in the destination folder......is there an easier way than to perform this task.
Thanks
Dave

Don't replace the original when you 'save as'

LOL...... its THAT easy is it Jim
Thanks very much for your help, I didn't know whether I had explained my query very well.

Just tried saving the modified image to another file which it does but when I come to close down the modified image in PS it asks me do I want to save changes to the Adobe photoshop document XXXX before closing.
If I click NO then it will not save it and if I click YES it will then go to other screen which only give me the option to save as a JPF file and not jpeg....Hmmm!!
Any help appreciated - Ta

What is the pixel depth of the image. Jpegs can only be saved as 8 bit per pixel.

If you have already saved it, using 'Save as' then replacing the original, or selecting a new file name or file type, why do you need to save it again, when exiting PS or closing the file... Just click 'No', when asked to save or not.

The exiting option is only realy needed if you haven't previously saved changes along the way :)
