Just a quick question...In the near future i am looking into taking up wedding photography. I understand that I will have to build my equipment to a sufficient standard first but thats another thread.

What I really want to know is when it comes to editing soft wear for weddings and general editing of photographs what package is best suited, CS5/6 or Lightroom4. Or is there any other soft wear available ?? Im currently using an iMac.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Both.

LR for organising a workflow and doing most of your processing.

When you need a more complex piece of processing you can export into CS5.

Cheers Dan. Would you say light room is faster than CS5 for editing when it comes to Wedding and portrait photography, also would the features of lightroom4 be able to carry out such editing tasks.

Lightroom is great for 90% of processing wedding/portrait shots. Once you have a workflow sorted within it, it becomes a pretty sleek bit of kit. It's speed in processing large batches of images is great when doing mundane adjustments such as exposure, contrast, sharpness, cropping etc.

LR is pretty powerful for 'photoshopping' but if an image needs any more complexity than normal then I export into PS. Working with layers and such can be done in their and imported back.

Do you do much wedding photography yourself Dan? If so what kit do you use? Thanks

Mostly do portrait stuff. On a very steep learning curve and giving myself a few years of experience and you never know what may come of it.

Have a look at my camera bag on my profile for my gear. Later this year I will be buying new gear (Body and fast zoom lenses) then my current gear will become my backup.

You need backup of everything once you start charging for work.

A good DSLR is obviously required but there is an argument for spending your money on glass over more spec camera in a lot of circumstances.
