hi, in CS5, is there an easy way to crop an image to a set size? for example, if i want to crop an image to print say 12 x 16, if i use the crop tool, it's all guesswork.

hope that makes sense :)

Near top left you should see Height and Width. Put in 12 in and 16 in. Crop tool will now crop to those dimensions...

blimey, never noticed that :)

So.... say i have an image that's cropped to 30 x 20 inches, i then crop that image using those input boxes to say 8 x 5 inches... would i need to save it as 2 files if i wanted to print the image at each size?

Sounds dumb now i've asked

If your sending off to the printers it's probably best to make two files, if your printing from photoshop you don't really need to save the smaller size just resize and print, that said personally I'd save them both, you never know when you'll need to print it again.

Good advice, cheers

Best idea is to keep your original and produce separate files for each print option and then you can always go back to the original file if needed, but if you crop your original file and save it as that crop you can never go back.
