CS4 extended saving with layers

Hi

For some reason, when I save 'as a copy' with 'layers' ticked too, it's not saving the layers the next time I open the file.

I like to save layers in case I want to go back and change something.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help appreciated.

You are opening the copy right? Sounds like you are opening the original having failed to save it properly. Keep your life simple, save the original with layers.

Are you saving as a PSD or something else.

Thanks for the replies. I open the raw file in ACR then it opens in cs4, work on layers etc, then
save as 'a copy'
save 'layers'
PSD (and I call it something like a name)

Then when I close the file, it asks 'save' and I say no.

When I open the copy, the layers arn't saved.

if you save a PSD and have the layers ticked you then open the PSD file it will all be there

I'll double check tomorrow but I am sure that's what I've been doing but there's no layers or history.

There is no need to save as a copy if its a new file as there is not another file to make a copy of, and when you do make alterations to the psd you can either then save as a copy or just save over the original. All of this doesnt effect the raw file at all so I would jsut try and save a layered file without ticking anything just to test.

The history will always be lost everytime you close the file, PS only keeps it for the present session.
