Hi,I want to rename a group of files from DSC**** to something else. Is there an automated way of doing this, rather than file by file? :shrug: Rob
 
In windows explorer you can highlight all the ones you want to rename, right click on the first file and rename, it will rename it with whatever you wrote, and add a number to the end.
 
use Adobe Bridge that's what I use

of course you have to wait forever because it's indexing is appalling, but it works
 
Thanks for that Steve. I tried it, but I need to be able to specify the range of numbers, for example RPW_ 00199 -RPW_00299
 
I think you can specify the start number in the first rename and the others will follow on.
I can't think of the name right now but there are some shareware progs out there that will do this sort of thing.


FastStone is the software I was thinking of.

If you have Cs3 does it not include Bridge? if it does you can do a batch rename in seconds without using any other software

Not just me then ;) Just hope CS5 works better.
