How do I change/edit a single command in an action in CS3? I have tried the help in CS3 and it states,

1/ In the Actions palette, double-click the command.
2/ Enter the new values, and click OK.

tried this and cannot get access to the line command to change it. I can see the line I want to change but can't suss it out. Tried double clicking etc. :bang:
Am I missing something?

Have you done a search on google? searched 'change action command in cs3' which has brought up a few different choices

You have to have an image open, then the double-click works fine

Nope, box comes up with 'The command set is not available'.

Hi

with an image open, go to your action palette go down to the action at the side of the tick there's another box click that it then has a black symbol in it, go down, to the part you want to change double click on the associated arrow, name, the dialogue box should open, change it as you wish, then un-check the black symbol when your done, you may want to save the whole action again to keep your new setting

Srill no worky, I've also tried highlighting the box to red and black.

I'd be quicker doing the action again!

have you tried playing the action rather rather than clicking the part if all the boxes have black symbols play the whole action, it should run in step by step, or edit mode, you can change them that way

Thanks for all your help, I've just redone the whole action. It's probably something simple and I may come back to it later.

I'm just trying to reduce my workload by combining a few actions/scrips together. Still have a few more to do.

cheers

Yep, tried it and it worked but had difficulty saving the action.

Can't win! lol

Another question,

Where are the actions stored on the PC and can they be transfered to another PC?

Ta in advance

Yep, I've had a look in there but I'm looking for actions that I have created/saved myself and want to transfer them to another PC and they are not in that folder.

:bonk: this was exactly the kind of issue I was having before I formatted my PC last week, actions in CS3 were tempermental at best. It wasn't just CS3, other programs were behaving strangely too - frustrating isn't it!

Sorry, not helpful but call it moral support for the unfathomable

Hi admirable

quickest way to tell where their saved is go to your action palate, click one of your actions that you already saved, then go to save actions, when the dialogue box opens, where it says, save in, expand that with the drop down and you'll be able to see the tree path to where you are saving them

I have saved the actions in a set as you can't save them individually. It saves them in the actions folder. When I go to the actions folder they are not there,
I have enabled 'view hidden files/folders'.
I have transfered the complete folder to PC2 but the file sizes are the same so it only loads the default .atn files.
Still no joy.
This is not the easiest program I have ever worked with!

Hi

Click your set then follow my post below that should do it, you need to see the tree version for the exact path as it may be putting them in

Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions

as when you saved them you didnt change the location to where adobes actions are saved are hope that makes sense

as your probably looking in \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions

once you have your actions copy them to

\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions

Sorted! :D:D

I saved the actions to a set, copied them and saved the copy to the desktop. Transfered to the desktop PC2 and installed using the load actions command in CS3!

Might be worth taking note of this as someone else is sure to come across this if installing new hard drive or transfering to new PC!

thanks for all your help!

Hi admirable

The problem with that is say you loaded them from your desk top, once they were loaded and you then delete them from your desk top, and then at some stage in the future, you remove them from your action list in photoshop you wont be able to find them in the add actions list, because you haven't actually transferred them to

\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions

you Have only loaded them from the desk top and if you've deleted them then there gone, so you still need to have them in

\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions

so they are available from the add action drop down

hope that makes sense
