Hi,
I could use a little advise please if possible. Its probably a compete newbie question, but if you don't ask, you don't know.:bonk:

I have CS2 on my PC. I have recently bought my first DSLR, a Canon EOS 30D.
I have been out today and taken a load of images in the Raw file format.

CS2 won't open them, so I went to Adobes website and downloaded the RAW file plug in that related to my camera, ver 3.4 I think it was. I have followed the instructions about what to do with it and I still can't see my images.

Please help. or should I have stuck to Jpegs.:thinking:
 
check that your camera is supported by that version of ACR and check that CS2 supports it too.
 
Sorry, I should have been more specific. I open CS2 in windows. I then click 'file/open' and browse to the folder where the images are. It shows the list of images as consecutive numbers. I then choose one and click open and it ahows an error message saying:
'could not complete your request because this version of photoshop does not supply the services required by this plug-in module'.
 
Have you re-booted your machine after installing the RAW codec. This often works.

you can convert to DNG there is a convert on Canon I believe I look if you not find it

I,ll have a look for that. Do I loses anything in the conversion and can I still edit them as RAW images? Thanks

Google 'Adobe DNG Converter' - you can download this for free from the Adobe site.

Thanks for all the advise guys.

I tryed everything and whatever I did, I got nowhere. Luckily, a friend of mine had a full copy of CS3 which he no longer uses and kindly donated it to me. That works absolutely fine.
Having viewed my images at last, I needn't have bothered, I have a lot to learn., Lol.
