listening to that t*** junker today ,there will be no free trade deals unless the u.k accepts everything we have voted against and then pay for the priveledge as well ,so if we do get a strong leader eventually that turns round and says up yours urop ,what will we be buying and using and where from in ten years time ,will it see the return of American cars to our roads ,even more Chinese goods in the shops ,does make me wonder the Far East is a major workshop but will they want our goods in return ,or have we exported enough of our manufacturing technology for them to say no way José

Cant blame Junker for saying that, all part of negotiation - the key thing is can we hold our nerve and be prepared to walk away without a deal if not right? Any tariffs or similar will affect many other countries... France and Germany export a lot of cars and there is also the tourism angle for Spain, Italy and Greece - The latter would find things very tough if that declined.

Or not, after all they are seriously cheaper in the US. Perhaps an opportunity to get them cheaper once we are outside the EU as well.

You don't know what you or anyone voted for because "out" was undefined. As far as I understand it's not tariffs that are important, you just pay them, it is compliance with regulations of the market you are exporting to that is important. This is the reason that TTIP has taken so long to reach agreement. Obviously all our goods currently comply with EU regulations but I have no idea if that will still be valid when we leave - maybe each product will have to be recertified.

Seeing as how the US car industry is in serious decline I doubt we'll be driving their cars over here anytime soon. I go to the states quite often and each time it's getting harder to spot US built cars on the road, whereas there's Japanese, Korean and European stuff absolutely everywhere. The only exception seems to be US made pickup trucks.
