Hi All,

Im going away for a few months and want to take a day bag with me to put my camera gear in. I dont have anything special Nikon D50, 18-55 Sigma lens and 70-200mm sigma lens, gorrilapod SLR. I am also going to be getting a netbook (not sure which one yet).

I have been looking at the Crumpler million dollar 5000 bag which seemed perfect, but its not available anywhere in the UK.

So I have found the next best thing which seems to be the muffin top 5500. Im just wondering if anyone here has one, are the internal dividers moveable and do you think I could stand a netbook (not a laptop) in the bag as well as my small camera?

I will also want to throw in a few other things like passport, documents, sd cards etc, but these will prob go in the front pocket ok.

Cheers for any help.

I've got the 5500. Yes the dividers are moveable, however there really is only space for a medium size camera, and two small to medium size lenses. There will definately not be space for a notebook. The 7500 might fit you requirements, but I will leave that to other who have the larger bag ...

I looked at the 5500 with a view to fitting my g1, gf1 and iPad but it seemed a little small, would certainly take a small dslr and a couple of lenses easily

check on ebay, ive had a crumpler camera strap and bag shipped from singapore, that weren't for sale in the UK.

I am presuming the muffin top 5500 is the same size as the messenger boy 5500. God what silly names they have...

...Anyway, I have the messenger boy 5500, and it took me a week to figure out how to fit a 1Ds & 17-40 (admitted it's a big camera), and it leaves little room for anything else. An 85mm, spare battery, extension tube and a flash is about all else I'll fit in it, which is lucky because that's all I plan to try and squeeze in.

You will struggle to fit your gear into it.

i have the messengerboy 5500 too...

the only issue i can forsee is the netbook... why do you need to transport that in your camera bag, surely your not going to process the piccies on the move ?
in mine i just about manage to get in this list..

3 sets of batteries for flash
2 batteries for camera
2 removable plates for tripod

It is quite small but I can fit a GF1, a G1 and three extra lenses in mine, with spare batteries and filters in the front pocket

Jesus H Christ, is yours a Tardis? Once I've stuffed the 1Ds in I've taken up 2/3 of the space!

The reason for carrying both is that im going to use it for my hand luggage whilst travelling, im not leaving my Camera or my netbook in the main luggage.

Also when out and about if staying at a hostel again I would rather have them with me than in a dorm or in my bag in a dorm. Plus I might want to sit at a cafe/pub with wifi and do a bit of work and its always good to have the camera close to hand :)

I really need to try and find somewhere I can get my hands on this bag, maybe the 7500 might be better, but I want to keep it as small as possible.

its a shame it doesnt have a divider that goes full length across the compartment. The million dollar bag is quite a bit different, its a shame we cant get it in the UK. I have looked at importing but it doubles the price and it isnt cheap to start with :)

Found my Crumpler New Delhi 390 & 510's crappy to use and very big for what you can get in them. Took them back. After looking at others I reckon all the Crumplers are the same and more about fashion than practicality. Pretty though....

You must work for Pickfords....

Lowepro for practicality - crumpler for fashion.

Dont suppose anyone lives near Aberystwyth with this bag so we can have a play around and see if we can get a netbook in it!!

OK Cool, thats that sorted then :)

Wonder if the 7500 would work, I dont want to goto a rucksack :( im looking for something small!!

Gap in the market for small laptop/netbook and camera :)

Paul

Back to the drawing board then :(

Its a shame as its a nice style bag and the netbook is so tiny I dont need a huge bag, even the 12" laptop + camera bags are huge and I dont need that space :(

Oh well thanks for the help!

Or if crumpler sold the same bags the world over, this all started because I have seen someone with a camera and netbook in a Crumpler 5 Million dollar bag, which we cant get in the UK!
