Crumpler Messenger Boy 5500

ooo a good price but im really hankering for the muffin top 4000. decision decisions!

I'm still deciding on getting it too. I want a smaller bag to use when I don't want to take out my Tamrac Expedition 7. So basically one that can take body with lens pluse two or three spare lenses.

Will a DSLR with grip fit comfortably in one of these?

I'm a bit late to the party but thanks - as a new dslr convert and with a rapidly increasing no. of items I've just ordered one - perfect and a bargain.

Ordered one of these on Saturday, £29.99 + £3.99 RMSD.

Got a call today saying the postage was wrong and I needed to pay another £3.91. Apparently on the checkout it will let you choose any type of postage, even if it is not suitable for the item you are ordering.

Jacobs is on quidco - so if you a member remember and use that for 3.5% back

same here!
showed this bag to a friend of mine who ordered one, and he got the same msg.
fortunately we are going to combine the orders and this should work out the same cost each.

but it is a terrible oversight by them!

Very tempting, but does anybody know if it will fit a Canon 40D with grip and lens (18-50mm f2.8) attached?

Pity all those free delivery over £50 codes seem to have expired as I need a rucksack too. Delivery at £7.90 is quite steep :(

@ wicker_man - I'm presuming those inserts are velcro (i.e. customisable) like the crumpler I have, in which case the answer would be a definite yes. Perhaps an owner could confirm?

PhotoTalk, the dimensions on the website say the bag has a depth of 15cm.

My 40D with grip is 16cm tall x 15cm wide, so if I put it in lens-down, does the bag flex enough or are the walls too thick/not flexible enough?

ah, I see. Can't answer that then, sorry.

After this rant, I calmed down a bit and realised this is still by far the cheapest deal around and ordered one again.

It takes the D90/18-105, 50mm and either the 55-200 or 70-300, plus flash unit, cables, spare battery etc. With this it does not leave much room for larger accessories, i.e. Cokin type adapter and filters.

But for me it is probably just the right size.

Will it take a D300 with 70-200 2.8 attached?

What about a D300 with 18-70 attached and a 70-200 2.8 loose?

I don't think it will. I tried it with the 70-300 lens down and that only just fitted and I think your 70-200 is bigger.

Across the bag side to side is approx 250mm, so i think it will be pushing it that way as well.

ended up not calling them back.
they just sent me the bag and DIDN'T charge the higher postage rate

will 2x check the cc bill, and if it is a higher charge, then i will be kicking off big style

I am tempted.Does anyone who ordered have pics with gear in it? I will be using it for my S5,nikon 50mm,nikon 18-70 and tokina 12-24.Just wondering how it will take all that.

This is with the D90 + 18-105, Sigma 70-300, Nikon 50mm and flash. I was using it over the weekend and found it very comfortable.

Under the right hand side of the camera there is room to keep a few filters as well.

doesn't seem that it would fit my a300 with battery grip, good price but pricey postage though

I have just ordered the Messenger Boy Full Photo Backpack Mahogony. You can use SUNNYFREEPOST to get free delivery and also Quidco for 3.5%.

Thinking about ordering one of these. I currently have a Crumpler Double Charge that I got for my Macbook Pro but it doesn't have an insert for camera gear so my D90 isn't really secured.
I can see from leaky5's pic, his D90 + 18-105 fits nicely. I've had a look on Nikon's website and checked the lengths of the 18-105 and it is about 7.5mm shorter than the 18-200 (which I have) so hopefully my D90 + 18-200 will fit no probs - anyone got this setup in their 5500? I don't have any other equipment yet but will hopefully get a 50 or 35 and a flash.

I think it would fit the same way if there is only 7.5mm difference. There is about 10-15mm above between the back of the camera and the top of the case

Cheers leaky. Just need to decide if I want black or brown

I ordered my Crumpler Messenger Boy Full Photo on Wednesday and got an email this morning saying it had been fulfilled (I presume that means shipped) and it subsequently arrived not much later on today. Good service.

Now all I need to do is work out how I am going to do the internal layout, its not like I've got much stuff to fit in there yet. Although I might try and fit a tripod in somehow, not sure that will work though.

Got mine this week with the extra del charge......have got in it D90 and attached 50mm, 18-105mm and 55-200 along with flash, charger, extra battery, memory cards and 2 lens hoods.....its a bit cramped.

Any idea what's the difference between the messenger boy bags and the muffin top ones??
Looked on their website, but they look the same to me, but then again it was a heavy night last night!!

Ordered mine on Sunday 30th August and received it on Friday the 4th of September, bear in mind that Monday was a Bank Holiday as well.

Just a quick note about the bag:- really impressed with it, fits my Canon 450d with the 55-250mm zoom attached. It's a tight squeeze with the big zoom attached(lens facing down),but does fit which is handy as it would be a pain swapping lenses every time you wanted to put the camera away!!
With the camera and lens attached in the middle compartment there is a compartment spare on either side.On one side there is a divider and room for 2 lenses and the other side there is room for the charger. Also there is the front pocket which would be handy for spare cards, filters and batteries.
The bag although fitting a fair bit of stuff in is not huge and is comfy to carry around for the day.
Highly recommended!

Got this bag, but have to be selective in what you carry - defo a walkabout bag.

And, didn't have to pay the additional postage ....

I got mine delivered pretty fast, a couple of days and I had it.

It is a squeeze if you take a lot of kit, but its great as a walk around. I used it on my honeymoon just recently. I had a Samsung GX10 with grip, Tamron 70-300mm, Tamron 90mm Macro, the kit 18-55mm, a 50 1.7 A and my Samsung 360 flash all in the main compartment. In the little front pocket I had 3 SD cards and 8 AA batteries.

WOW!!! surprised that all of that managed to get in ...

Don't make me post pictures! lol!
