What is a cropped sensor and do I have one??

I stand to be corrected but I think the 40D has a cropped sensor.

A cropped sensor is one smaller than full frame. And yes, it does. It is a 1.6 multiplier

I think it might be!

I don't think the service centre can uncrop it either!

Have a look at this thread. It's a direct comparison between a crop sensor on my 30D and the full frame sensor on my 5D. It should help to explain the difference

Thank you for the info and pointers,very helpful, as usual. Reason I asked was someone came up to me on Cowes Sea Front as I was photographing Yachts and asked me if my camera had a cropped sensor!!!! I had to tell him I did not know!!!
