Crime Fiction anyone?

The 87th Precinct series was often cited as the foundation of the Hill Street Blues TV franchise.

My mum and I never missed an episode on TV way back then! was excellent in the day! Both missed now:(

Stuart MacBride - the Logan Macrae books are ridiculous, completely implausible, and I loved them!

My wifes cousin is CID in Aberdeen. He thought someone had pinched his diary :p

Thanks everybody.. Some of other favourites listed here.. I definitely agree about Stuart McBride... His characters are excellent... I like Robert Crais too but he doesn't seem to being books out very often. I also loved the James Lee Burke books although at times they were a bit gloomy. I read all the Agatha Christie books when I was much younger. And all the Harry Bosch books too... Will have a look at some of the others one... Keep them coming. I wish the Bosch series wasn't on yet another subscription channel.

More you say?

I've just read the first of Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London series. It's pretty quirky, the CID crossed with Harry Potter, but very readable.

another Harry Bosch fan...kindle app on my iphone 6 plus gets used.....a lot

So after clearing and tidying the first of 2 outhouses I've brought in all my boxes of books to go through as my daughter wanted to have a look.
Bearing in mind a lot of these are from my late teens early 20`s I can't wait to see and re read some!

So far there is an awful lot of Dean koontz. Richard layman and Stephen King...I remember being addicted back then lol

I was a massive Stephen King fan at one time too, but gradually went off him round about Dolores Claiborne. He seemed to go through a stage where he was writing one good book, followed by a mediocre one.

I bought Dr Sleep at my local charity shop recently though and it's a superb book. It's the sequel to The Shining, following up what happened to Danny, the little boy. If you haven't already read it, I'd really recommend it.

I still love Koontz....he's a very friendly chap too :-)

I wonder if Layman is still writing.

Ever try Graham Masterson?

Indeed I have some time back now and enjoyed too, although of the top of my head can't remember what lol

The best one I remember was Walkers.

Catherine Coulter FBI ones are pretty good, as are her historical ones but agree the Robert Crais is excellent.

Duh staring at me on the top of one of my box piles is one of his...the burial so I may have more @viv1969

Sounds good I'll have to give it ago, think the last king book I bought was insomina but I didn't read it, might give it ago

I gave up on King a long time ago when it seemed he was putting 200 page stories in 1,000 page books :) However, I've recently read Dr Sleep and Mr Mercedes and really liked them both. Looks like he's got his mojo back.

I don't think I've read anymore of his since early 20's so I'm tempted to try especially Dr Sleep as it seems popular

I've not read any King since he got all shifty and rejected e-readers.

C.J Samson and The Shardlake Series.

They're brilliant - just finished Lamentation.

Another fan of Ian Rankin, Michael Connelly and Lee Child. Strictly Lee Child isn't crime fiction but has similarities.

Stuart Macbride

From his "About" page

Downloaded the sample for Cold Granite the other day and have now bought the book. I'm away on my own tonight so will be getting stuck in to it.

Thanks for the heads up. (y)

Yes, I want the next one of the series; think it is out in hardback but I am not sure. Thank god for libraries... Hopefully, we won't lose ours.

Found a new author at the airport. Don't think anybody has mentioned this chap. It is the first in a new series. Stuart Neville.

Just read Seventy Times Seven and Blood Whispers by John Gordon Sinclair (better known as the lead in the movie Gregory's Girl many years ago). Two excellent, gritty novels which don't pull any punches.
