My Nikon 16-200 Vr lens tends to creep when the camera is pointing slightly done, unfortunatly its out of guarantee, but I think I have seen comments about this before, Any ideas as to how to stop it would be welcome:help:
 
It's wearing in, can't be helped.
They tend not to creep at 18mm, but mine does if I walk with it pointed down.
 
I use a black silicone wrist band to stop mine. It works great. Cant really tell its there and still allows you to zoom nicely. Just enough friction. I've got a couple of new spare ones if you want one. I'll post free of charge.

On the barrel between the barrel and zoom section. It really isnt that obvious when on. It just provides a bit of tension at that point. It was an idea someone posted on another forum. I ordered a set from Australia on his say so. They are a matt black finish.

Any chance of a pic? I can't imagine where it would go that would not stop the full extent of the zoom action :thinking: :shrug:

EDIT: Mine does not have any kinda creep on it yet, but if (when) it does it would be nice to have a solution ready!
 
Here you go. Not the best piccie (N95), but you get the idea. Its only a simple silicone charity wrist band in black. I turned it inside out so it shows that matt finish on the outside. Its just about the right tension for zooming too.

Its nowhere near as obvious in reality. I just had to get close in to show it properly.
I'll have a look and see how many I've got. (I think its 3) If anyone wants one, pm me. First come basis.

Aha - that makes sense... good to know in case mine starts creeping some time.

Have they made any modifications to them to stop it happening in current/later models?
