Can anyone tell me if I can pay for some thing from a private seller such as someone from here with my credit card ie like a bank tranfer of money and also do I get the same cover as I would had I used my card in a shop if some thing did go wrong

Basically, yes (assuming you mean via Paypal), however if you have transfered the money into your Paypal account and then used the money to buy something then you would only be able to submit a claim to Paypal themselves if something went wrong.

Another thing to consider is that most private sellers on TP will only accept payment by Paypal "Gift" and with that method of payment you have no protection whatsoever - so choose your seller carefully ;)
 
No the seller isnot a member of TP I just used that as an example they are from another site and thats why I wanted to use my credit card to pay them I dont have a paypal account so I was thinking could I pay them direct from my card if possible if not has anyone got a sugestion of how best to pay

I understood that the cc companies were getting iffy about paypal transactions? I presume too many bad experiences.

That's how I felt when I first opened a Paypal account. I have to say though, that it's been trouble free for me, but as Flash says, choose your seller very carefully, and if you're buying on fleabay check out the seller's feedback - only buy from those with a good feedback record.
 
Its a first sale so no feed back but been e mailing him thro flea bay

Decided to pull out of sale as seller agreed a buy it now price then e mailed me to say he had got a higher offer so did I want to increase mine but didnt state by how much so think he was just trying to get me to bid against myself.

Sounds dodgy to me and against ebay rules I am sure,
If you are really bothered
report the seller that should inconvenience him for a bit at least
 
Not really bothered as I have said think he is just pushing for more cash
