Is there a safe way of sending credit card details by email to an hotel in Dubai? I've stayed at the hotel before and although the staff are OK it is very difficult to talk with them by phone........ I know I could always give it to one of you guys and you could pass it on ;)

I don't see it's any different to giving it over the phone if someone was to write it down and take advantage. Ultimately you'd be giving your cars number, expiry, and CSC on the back, which is no more than could be gained from picking it up in the street (although I accept hotel staff also have access to your billing address very easily too).

I've done it before, but I have split it over different emails. The recipient knew where to look in each email.
I wouldn't do it as general practise though, this was a one off a few years ago.

I've done it also by splitting details across separate emails, though to be honest I fail to see how it's any less secure than paying by credit card in any other fashion.

Would it be possible to send money to the hotel via bank transfer or similar or do they have to have your card details?

Would never send it in a single email and would need a very good reason to send it even in split emails.

I made the booking for this November over the phone (a nightmare in itself) using the credit card details they already hold from previous visits. A couple of days ago I received an email from them (genuine) informing me that my credit card expires before I go, so can I email my new card details to them as soon as I get the new card.

Have all the details changed?

Only when my card was renewed it still had the same number, but obviously the expiry /start dates had changed and the 3 digit security code on the back. If the number is still the same, perhaps you could email the other details on separate emails?

How easy is it to get a prepaid credit card then just load it with the required amount then keep it for possible future potentially risky use? I've wondered about them as holiday use only, keeping the normal ones for home use but never got around to investigating properly.

Prepaid Visa Card !

Also fwiw I wouldn't be happy with them storing the card details unless they were using a pci compliant ( or their alternative of that standard ) system to do so.

Unfortunately my money would be on it being in a excel spreadsheet or some basic database. With no additional security.
