Creative Live on now

Just watching some of it now
Just come on here for a nosey during the break
These things are great (or geeky if you ask my missus)
This girl's good at what she does, and very switched on with the sales/ business side
If in doubt, give it a try, once you get past the waffle, theres plenty to learn on these videos. and its FREE live

This is the third one I have watched and all three have said that marketing is the most important thing (taking great pictures is a given)

I agree for free its amazing, well worth the watch.

Heard heaps bout these on twip, but never seen one. Il have to set a reminder for the next one ! one thing I will say though is 150 bucks to watch at your own pace ? bit steep if you ask me !

Ive watched since they started been a great interest and pick loads of tips up

Never seen one but you think the price is a bit steep :bonk:

If you purchase one before the end of the live shows they are $99 which is just over £60 for about 20 hours or so of content, one or two useful tips from the program makes it worth the payment.

I have bought 5 of these to date and do not regret the purchase of any. I usually wait until sometime during the 2nd day before deciding whether to buy or not, not always about the content, more about how it's delivered.

I tend to agree, it’s a great insight to different sides of the photography world.

These photographers are showing their whole business model and what works for them.

Agreed, very drawn out, and uber American, but i pop back and forth, waiting for the actual shoot environment and usually get something from it
Some great marketing advice in this ine from what I saw, but mustve missed all the bits I wanted
Reasonable price which is free though

But you admit you've picked lots of tips up.

I don't pay much attention to the marketing stuff as I have no intention in becoming commercially involved with photography again, but I like to see/hear what others are doing and I feel that the cost is not unreasonable for the information given. I have paid as much and in some cases more for DVDs on subjects that I have been interested in that have had less content and interest than most of these Creative Live events.

I find it very good to watch and very useful. As said for free I can't complain and its certainly help me learn!!

Oh yes Ive learned loads from them, I think their really good, I just dont pay much attention to the marketing either, but there is lots of it, I suppose if you are going to become interested in selling images it is useful, just not to me personally

There does seem to be a difference in emphasis in this years Creative Live offerings. Previously they were aimed at beginners. Each course stood on its own with lots on intro level technical stuff on day one and more interesting stuff on days 2 and 3. This year they appear to be aiming at more advanced individuals. Folks with asperations to running a photography business. Hence very little in the way of technical stuff and far more of the stuff required to run a business. How to do marketing, interact with subjects etc.

Personally I'm pleased with the route they have gone. Its far more interesting to those of us who don't need yet another drawn out, day long refresher course in shutter speeds, ISO etc.

The David Nightingale one this year was excellent by the way.

Regards

I went to the bellies & babies tour a year back when she did 2 shows in the UK. A lot of the info on this is the same as the tour, some new stuff, some old. Some parts from other tours she's done.
All excellent advice.

I think I paid £60 for the tour, and it was more than worth the money. This 3 day online event is free!
If I had a bit of spare cash at the moment i'd pay the $99.

Even if you're a photography and business guru and know everything... you'll at least come away motivated. She's an excellent speaker.

Thanks - saw some of this. I found it really interesting and definitely tips and things to learn that could be applied to other areas of photography. The 'Rewatch' is on at the moment.

The rewatch is better as its slightly shorter version!

Unfortunately i have not had the time this weekend to watch most of it.

They must be repeating bits of it as I ended up sitting up very late last night watching the baby shoots (kept meaning to turn it off but it was really interesting) - and this seems to be repeated at the moment - worth a watch.

Anyone paid the $99??

Is it worth it????

I dont have the money to spend on it. But the 1st day was a lot about marketing and advertising and a few stories of hers.

2nd day was more about the shooting, posing and handling the kids, with a bit about pregnancy shoots. Which I think they are going into more today.

I suppose it depends on how you like to learn. There is some good info in there, and I think they are giving away the course (slideshow of hers) in PDF if you buy it this weekend.

I think if it's a area you want to go into the advice for the price is very good.

If like me you photograph for fun, then I would not buy it just watch online.

That's the one I saw, missed the first day. Very interesting.

I would agree. I wouldn't buy this one as no plans to do baby photography - but if I did that or was thinking of it then I maybe as its pretty good value for money for the amount of information, when you think what you would spend on a training day or on DVDs.

Day 3 has just started.

i saw short parts of it. but wow, it was very good!

very emotional finish to the 3rd day too!

Its a combination of someone experienced and good at her job (with plenty of examples of how she actually does it) who is also an excellent speaker. Thanks Nick for flagging this up. :)

I managed to watch bits of it and yes if you can get through some of the waffle, the stuff she covers is well worth the £60! I did buy it over the weekend as I wasn't able to watch all I wanted and so decided it was worth it for me.

I was gutted I could not get to watch it all, whenever I managed to flick onto it; she was wiping tears from her eyes.

She sells her business very well, I have watched three of CL and this one felt like more of a big advert for buying more of her stuff.

I don’t think that’s a negative point after all she is giving a lot of advice and techniques away for free. Also it might just have been the only couple of time I flicked onto it that that was happening.

I found the parts where she was sitting in the chair talking, yes - it was a bit like that - less interesting and to be honest at times I felt it was just too much emotional sales hype for me. But the actual shoots with babies was interesting - she shared a lot of practical info about how she worked. I really enjoyed those sections.

For the first time over the last year or so I've been watching Creativelive this one was more about her selling lots of various things. OK, the odd plug for what you do and sell, but she's no doubt getting paid for doing the show, and she's getting the publicity so no need to bang on too much with the hard repetitive sell.

Hopefully next weekends Glamour Photography workshop with Sue Bryce will be better. :)

Is no one watching this then?
Its excellent this week, she knows how to get what she wants and really informative too
ps, its on a break just now

I think its interesting to see how different people work and what works for them. I wish it had been on last night though! Would have helped me seeing this before today!
