Creative Cloud Desktop Poblem

Yes, it does seem strange, although it might have been introduced with the last update to the Cloud app itself (I don't know the Mac version number but it's v1.6.0.393 for a PC). My user ID also has an @ but I don't get the blank window - I'm on PC though.

Did you try the fix in the 1st link?

.... it isn't even asking for a login, just straight to the blank screen. he cloud icon at the top is greyed out as well.

You should be able to get rid of the @ by signing in at http://www.adobe.com/ and changing it from there (instead of signing in via the Cloud window). Following is copied from the 1st link:

Solution

This issue occurs when you have special characters (/, ?, $, #, %, &) in certain fields (for example, First Name, Last Name, Company Name) of your Adobe ID.
Remove the special characters from your Adobe ID:

  1. Go to www.adobe.com and sign in with your Adobe ID.
  2. Click My Adobe.
  3. Click My Information.
  4. Locate the fields that contain the special characters and remove them.
  5. Click Save My Changes.

Just looked at that, the adobe id has to be a valid email address and there are no special characters anywhere else so it doesn't look like that is the issue.

Yup, I login just fine on Mac with my Adobe ID which is my email address.

Does this help?

Sorry it's taken me a while to respond, I was at work and I'm no Mac expert so I had to check. :)

If you open the Users and Group preferences panel it'll say "Admin" under the account name. The first account is admin by default I think. I just wondered if that might cause a problem - perhaps it will allow the installation but wouldn't allow something else.

A bit of a long shot.

In the OOBE folder, there is only a shortcut called PDApp annd the only .db file in it is pim.db

PDApp.exe is Adobe Application Manager - I think it's originally from Creative Suite but now it launches the Creative Cloud window (at least it does on Win 7).

There's no file called pim.db in OOBE on Win 7 (and I can't find anything on it via Google).

My Win 7 OOBE folder only contains these 4 files:
  • _License Agreement.xml
  • com.adobe.acc.(long number).prefs
  • com.adobe.acc.files.default.prefs
  • opm.db
What happens if you double-click PDApp?

So PDApp is a shortcut but it's not launching Adobe Application Manager or Creative Cloud.

Are you sure you went to the right place?

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE - (the wrong place)
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE - (the right place) (address starts with a tilde)

Found at post 5 here while looking for pim.db - https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1236917

This is what I get. There doesn't appear to be a way to get to thelocation beginning with ~

I don't have a Mac so I don't know the folder hierarchy, but the tilde symbol (~) seems to denote the user directory - therefore the address in your screenshot would need to be the same place as this: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE (mentioned here and here).

Are these two addresses effectively the same, or are they different?
  • Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
  • Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE

The first of those is the only path I have for Library. Beginning to think my Mac is just weird.

Could the second one be hidden (or any part of it hidden)?

PS. If it's any help, the Facebook link says this: ".......You can navigate to the relevant <user>\Library folder by pressing cmd+Shift+g, and entering /users/<username>/Library:"

Still got the spinning thing?

If you have, I wonder if it's worth trying this:
  1. Navigate to Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe
  2. Locate OOBE folder and rename it, e.g. ZOOBE
  3. Restart machine and repeat 1 - has Cloud created a new OOBE folder?
  4. If it has, try and start Cloud
  5. If it hasn't, rename ZOOBE to OOBE

Yep, beenk about 45 minutes now.

Have you tried steps 1-4 above?

If you have and Cloud still doesn't work, post 17 here suggests deleting the AAMUpdater folder as well as the OOBE folder. Renaming them (as ZAAMUpdater and ZOOBE) instead of deleting them should have the same effect.

Bingo, gold star, have a like. :D

Yipppeee.

PS. I would keep the original (renamed) folders just in case.
