hello all

not a photo so I thought I would put it in here instead. I'm messing with Illustrator atm as the ability to scale drawings up or down is very useful.

Here's my first real attempt, after fiddling about with simple stuff, its my Yashica 635 TLR, but I didn't attempt the writing (scary)

Does anyone know any tricks or handy hints for this kind of stuff?

cheers

The program I use (xara) treats everything as an object so if yours is the same it's a good idea to make your drawing up of lots of small objects. That way it's much easier to corect a mistake. Save regularly and often too.

Livetrace is a feature from Illustrator CS2 onwards that renders image as lineart/comic book-style images, dependant ont he settings you choose but it won't do it quite like this I don't think.

I've always found doing this kind of thing in Photoshop easier using paths and then applying a stroke path to them with something like a 3pt brush. However, because it's no vector-based, you have to work on a large canvas from the start whereas Illustartor can be enlarged without any loss of quality.

Here is one I did in Photoshop...
