Hi Guys,

Until i started using LR3 for importing pictures from external devices (camera, CF cards, Iphone, etc...) i always used Windows default importing program. It was a ease to use and was creating folders just like i wanted it - for example "2011-06-27 Walk In The Park", where i could easily see what the folder refers to and the date of event.

I'm trying to achieve same thing in LR3 but i'm a bit lost, as it creates only a folder with a date in name or folder with "event name" and subfolder with date.

Is there a simple way of achieving it?

Thanks,

Mariusz

Yes LR can do what you want. Not at my desk so can't be specific but have you looked it up in the manual - it's there. Also F1 - help files in LR are good. Basically you can put the imported pics in any folder you choose - named as you want!

Thanks Andy, i will look it up. Didnt really think about F1 , i will give you a shout if i still struggle

Happy to help but it will be from memory for next couple of weeks.

The very top of the import page in LR had options to
Copy as DNG, Copy, Move, Add (then in the right hand corner) there is a little arrow with To: (a destination) and picture of hard drive.
Click anywhere in this corner to select where you want your images to be put.
All down the right hand side are options as to what to do with your images on import. I have set the Metadata to add a copyright to the images and I also keyword at this point

In "Destination" you can set how you want the files to be handled, and set the date option etc.
