Totally unrelated to photography but I get the impression that there are lots of Mac users on here. I need to save a long Word document that consists of numerous sections as a pdf, I thought it would be nice and easy, go to print and print as pdf but that generates a separate pdf for each section of the Word doc. Does anyone know how to merge these pdfs or to get Word to print the whole thing into a single pdf document?
I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks

hmm, cant 100% clarify this as i dont have word on my mac anymore, but if you go to export can you not export it as a PDF?? i now that in iworks pages program you can,

What do you mean by the Word doc has 'numerous sections'?

I have inserted 'section breaks' between different parts of the document so that I can format them separately (different headers and footers and so on).

There doesn't seem to be an export function in Word, there is only a Save As (which doesn't give pdf as a format). Usually the print to pdf is fine but it just doesn't seem to like sections with different formatting.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Well, I just tried Save As pdf in Word for Mac (2008) with a document that has page breaks in it and it saved as a single pdf. It might be working as I also have Acrobat Pro installed...

EDIT: Also tried a doc with section breaks and it worked...

Hmm, thanks for that. I'm using Word 2004 and don't have Acrobat Pro, pdf is not one of the formats that I can select to Save As.

Thanks for the help - I think I might have to resort to putting it on a university PC if I can find one with pdf writing software and trying it on that.

hi, if its only going to be a one off and it needs to be done you could sign up to adobe and you get 5 free go's at converting to PDF, all you need really is an email address.

I have a piece of software called Cutepdf.. free, works.. you can set it up as a printer, but... haven't checked if it's mac compatible. Google might be worth asking on that one, it's free software. Cutepdf i mean!

Hey, you can send it to me to convert if you like.

Thanks, I appreciate your offer, unfortunately it's 330MB file so it's not going to be easy to send (it's a whole PhD thesis! :) ).

I might well give this a go if the software below can't sort it - thank you.

I've used this in the past, it's free and it works :)

Thanks, unfortunately this has a max file size of about 2MB which my document way exceeds but it's definitely a site to remember.

I'm downloading it now :)

Thanks everyone, I appreciate you taking the time to help. :)
