I am trying to setup a new logo for my business.

I decided to go for "DR" letters and then I can add any text to the right as needed, eg. PHOTO or WEDDING | PHOTO (underneath), etc.

I thought about having a big D and then the R would be overlayed, just slightly offset to the right and elongated down.

What would be the best and quickest way to create a reasonable SVG / PNG black and white file with transparency? I tried photoshop but clearly did something wrong.

Something is better than nothing. I just need it out ASAP and I can evolve it later on.

Thanks

I used photoshop for my latest logo, see below image.
I created the file on a transparent background, and saved it as a .png file. That way I can layer it straight onto the photo, and if needs be adjust the size using transform.

I have just created a logo for my (future) business. It cost the grand sum of £10 and I have all the photoshop files to be able to amend and change colours etc.

I used Fiverr.com. It a site full of people offering services for $5.

Check out the website and look for a user called Karyface1.

They have a number of designs you can choose from and they will most probably do some kind of bespoke design from a PDF drawing.

I selected one option but they then gave me a furtehr 3 to choose from, one of which i really liked.

Really pleased with my design. Just my initials in a signature form with some text but its so clean and simple and saved me hours of trying to do it from scratch in CS6

You want the quickest or the best? Trust me it's not always so easy to convert after you establish an identity for your business.

I usually do them in illustrator then export them in whatever sizes or coloured backgrounds that are required.

From your description it's hard to picture what you are imagining. I would just make sure that it's clear.

When you say you need it ASAP, what's the rush?

Do you mean something like this?

Cheers, looks interesting. I expected more like $300+ so I had ruled that option out but this looks worth a shot.

Well I am updating the site, and plan to print some flyers / brochures / business cards a couple weeks later

All I know I want DR letters and some text on the right (can be "PHOTO", or even "Chemistry software", anything...). I have some crazy business ideas, who knows... DR should be one thing that stays.

Once it is out I only expect to do fairly minor tweaks to the design.

Many thanks. It may work :)
