Annoying Windows 8.1 uefi problems. I decided I want to 'upgrade' the hard drive in my laptop to ssd. Used Paragon to clone the old drive to the new and all seemed to go well but.. The laptop won't boot from the cloned drive, all I get is a blue screen saying a required device is not connected and do I want to run the recovery.

The laptop will boot from the new drive if I have it in a usb caddy, (so I know the clone worked) but not if I remove the original drive and substitute the new ssd. Now the original drive does have a hidden recovery partition but the machine didn't come with any way to create any other kind of recovery media from it and from what I've read on t'net I need this to get the new hard drive to work in place of the old.

Any ideas on how I can get a usable recovery out of a hidden partition?

Thanks for the move :) I think I might have solved it, Win 8 has a creat a recovery disk option, who'd have thunk it.

Have you checked the bios, make sure it's selecting the SSD as boot drive.
