Looking to buy CANON EF 70-200mm f/2.8L.

Most prices are over £900 some over £1000. CrazyCameras.co.uk are selling it for £815 with free delivery.

Anyone heard of/used them?

I looked at them when I bought my 70-200L and saw soooo many bad reviews I reckoned it's just not worth the hassle.
 
I haven't come across them before either. I nearly went down the same road before (using a Hong Kong based store) but thought better of it on the basis that I simply want no hassle with returns/warranty so paid more. It's a gamble basically.
 
look at the 20 page thread on the av forum. I really wouldn't buy from them.
 
Any thoughts on the ebay guy? Have never contemplated spending this amount on ebay before.
 
Have you tried Kerso? He usually comes out cheapest for UK tax paid, UK warranty and usually immediate delivery as well. Ian Kerr is an independent importer well respected on here. Check him out in the For Sale section, or PM kerso for a price.

I think he will quote around £880 for this lens.
 
There are other independent resellers on ebay and the net, cheapest is not always the best option.
 
+1 for Kerso, excellent service/product/price. Or try Stuart at Digital Depot?

No VAT refund guarantee like onestop-digital.com but quite a bit cheaper.

Personally I wouldn't even contemplate buying from anyone who:
(a) has such a blatant disregard for the Distance Selling Regulations;
(b) says the lens has a 90 day guarantee by seller (what happened to the Canon 12-month warranty, then?);
(c) is offering the lens at a price which looks suspiciously like they are evading VAT.

Hoppy, are you sure his prices include VAT?

Don't tocuh them with a 10ft barge pole! My most recent purchases haves been from Warehouse Express and Onestopdigital.

Very impressed with both.

DigitalRev have been used by quite a few people here including me.
No problems.

Some of their deals are no VAT Duty and they refund any fees quickly.

Kerso told me he pays VAT, in reply to a direct question.

I think that maybe the payment of UK taxes is a key component of Canon UK honouring the warranty. I don't know that for sure, and from what I can tell warranty work is highly discretionary anyway (usually falling in favour of the customer, eg a guy on holiday from New Zealand got sorted no probs) but Ian also told me he has never had a problem with Canon UK.
 
You wont go far wrong with either Kerso or Warehouse Express IMHO
 
Crazy Cameras - the name alone would put me off.

I have direct experience with them albeit from a few years back.

I was lied to repeatedly by them as the lens I bought was not in stock. It took 2 weeks to get a refund.
 
well, the missis ordered me a sb900 around the 14th of december and it was delivered just before christmas, no problems at all, found it strange they had to call her up to confirm cc details but that was all. Dont think Id use them for a body or a lens but small er things maybe so
 
better keep an eye on your cc BS, that sounds very odd to me

Why would they ring up asking for confirmation? would it not be confirmed or rejected immediately on inputting the details at their end:shrug:
 
I don't see what's so odd... we will quite often use 192 to find the cardholder's home number and ring them to confirm they've made a purchase. Tis a fairly standard ecommerce fraud prevention measure.

think its because they are in america and want to confirm that the phone number given matches up with the order and that the CC is correct, they only ask for the last 4 numbers and the security code off the back, which im not sure if you input online when you order or not as she did it. From everyone that Ive read about ordering from these (massive thread on avforums) this has been the case.

Phew..glad I found this post as I was also going to use them.
They return the first result in a Google search (as they pay to advertise on Google). I would have thought Google would want to not have them as clients but i guess money is money!
Glad I didnt give them all my hard earned money for a Canon 17-55mm. Would be devastated if I was ripped off like so many others have been.
 
Following a Google search, they seemed to be the only UK company who stock a part for one of my telescope mounts.

I kept trying to submit an order and kept getting my card declined...

So I have to "co-ordinate with my bank" because they can't handle 3d verification on a credit card.:clap:

A cyber pal has just pointed me at this thread and I am now quite relieved they don't have my money!

this was the case with a nikon flash i ordered, it came from LA and was delivered in 5 days,...

after reading all the negative stuff about them now i think i was lucky...:eek:
