So does anyone here use Crashplan?
If so what are your thoughts about it?
Any pro's/con's?
Very interested to here peoples opinions on Crashplan
I tried it. Couldn't get decent speeds to their server (I have a 16Mbit up connection), so went elsewhere. I'm currently with BackupSolutions (http://www.backupsolutions.com/) as they have a UK based data centre and I can get all of my 16Mbit up link used. £63 for a year, unlimited storage.
Who with? BackupSolutions don't have a family plan.... Or do you mean crashplan (I found I couldn't get decent up speeds either...).I took up their family (10 computer) plan for £10 in Black Friday sale last year, can only get 1mb up if that, so it has taken forever to upload seeing I have 20mb/s Upload speed !
I am going elsewhere come November because although cheap, it takes too long to upload.
Always, always test the restore - if even to a blank old disk. There are many a story of people having a superb backup strategy only to find all the data is garbage.......I haven't tested the "restore" function ... and don't plan to![]()

That would be quite expensive for me as they also charge transaction fees... (think I've got 750G backed up now and still not fully there....)They are also very cheap - $0.01 / GB / month.

BTW, BackupSolutions won't back up files that are bigger than 20Gbytes (i.e. system images). Solution is multi-part rar files - which is what I'm working on now).
I also found out that the company uses the same backup technology internally as Backup Solutions, so that does instill some confidence in my solution.
Yup.. bit of a punt, but have had pretty good response from the couple of queries I have sent them. Not sure how much of a one man band it is though...I did check out backupsolutions on your recommendation but found very little detail about them, so went for amazon instead.
