CPL Tips for motorsport

Just in case it's sunny this weekend, is there a rule of thumb for polarisers? I only use mine rarely and for static subjects, but this weekend I'm shooting rally gb and I hope I might be in a position to kill some reflections.
Obviously rally cars can't be practiced the way race cars can so I wondered how I'd know if the setting was ok by looking at the scene without a car in it.

Rally cars move about far too quick to really adjust and the lines they take vary quite a lot too so personally I would leave it on and recover what you can in post

I know how they move, that's why I've never really tried it before - but in my dreams we'll be basking in brilliant sunshine next weekend and I thought I'd give it a go.

Cpl's don't work well with poly carb windscreens... You get an oily smudging look
