I'm struggling with this, does anyone use the webmail that comes with Cpanel hosting? like Horde, squirrel Mail, Round cube etc.

I'm trying to set it up so all my emails, including sent ones are accessible via the webmail, so no matter what device I used to send the email, I can always check it on webmail, does that make sense?

I suppose a bit like Gmail, but not Gmail. :)

Yes - I'm on Plesk which has @mail or Horde which work OK.

My preference though is to use the IMAP and an mail client on whatever device I access it from. Ona PC I prefer Thunderbird and have everything (around half a dozen mail addresses) coalesced into a single UI.

Depends on your host I think. With tso I get the choice of 3 - horde, roundcube and squirrel.

Yes Im with TSO too, but have you got it running so you can access all mail, sent, received, deleted etc by just logging into the webmail? So that when you're not at your own machine you can still access everything?

But can you get each machine running in sync so if you send an email from one machine, it still shows up on another? Thats why I'm thinking webmail would (should) work.

Other than by IMAP just make sure that you don't tick 'remove emails from server after downloading' (or similar wording) and the emails will remain on the server for viewing however you login - but you will need to do some housekeeping at some stage.

thats really a different question, i think what you want is IMAP. i use IMAP rather than webmail (only use webmail on a machine that isnt mine) on each device - pc, ipad and iphone etc.

IMAP on each device should do it. will mark as read etc

You can usually access it at webmail.yourdomain.co.uk (or at least that's how I get to mine).

That's the bit I'm struggling with! For some reason its not showing any sent messages on the server.
That's because the mail transfer agent isn't responsible for managing copies of mails. You should use your mail client to either bcc: yourself or save the message to a folder on the server when sent.

You might need to setup your mail client, I know that Outlook has options for IMAP to not save sent items / save sent items in a specific folder on the server / save sent items locally which you can set in the mail options in the control panel (under more settings).

If you use email on your phone, it may do this for you automatically - I know my Blackberry does.
