Seen a kit consisting of the above for sale. 2 heads, brollies, stands etc. Is it a good kit to get started with? It's available for under £50 which is tempting as my first attempt at studio type lighting.

Regards

Don’t know if this is any help but

Plus

Cost if they are coutaney stands you will be hard pressed to get 2 as well built for £50

They will take a lot of hammer

Minus

DO NOT connect direct to a DSLR polarity is wrong they will fire from another flash or rf 602s can be made to work (I will tell you how if you get them)

Only 2 setting full/half power

Light modifiers are hard to come by

I am sure someone else will come by and tell you more

I pretty much agree with Paul.
Modifiers were very thin on the ground even when they were new, probably unobtainable now.
Colour temperature was very, very blue
Pretty low powered
Non-standard stand fitting, so if the stands aren't included you'll have a real problem
Probably impossible to get repaired if they fail, so need to be regarded as disposable.
Must be triggered via radio trigger or as slaves

But at that price, they must be worth having:)

I have a few that I started with, slowly going over to Lencarta but still use 2 for background lights.

The newer models have standard fitting to the light stand, you can spot the newer ones by the red plastic leaver each side to hold the reflector the old ones you can see 2 dome nuts, in which case the stands alone are not bad for £50

BIG BUT DO NOT CONECT TO DSLR BY CABLE
