Could you keep your cool?

I would have yelled "Enviro freak!" and got on with my business.

Some people simply aren't worth arguing with, so I find. It goes through one ear, and out the other with no processing in-between by both sides of the brain.

The womans behaviour in the video is without doubt OTT and out of order, however the the issue she had appears to stem from her view on environmental issues.....that being the case evidently makes her an "Enviro freak" ......please explain a specific definition of a so called Enviro freak as I am an active environmentalist and support local groups to conserve our local environment (specifcally clearing the beaches and countryside of litter and toencourage recycling).
Perhaps that makes me one of these Enviro freaks??

Another sad example of a brainwashed enviromoron! ..... Feeding her to the pigs gets my vote :D

Mmmmm does an Enviro freak come under the same definition as an enviromoron I wonder??

I think the family acted in the correct manner really. She told her to go away and not to swear in front of her children. The yelling and hollering really didn't help her cause though. It's a shame that people feel the need to act that way really!

Agreed! ...The husband/father showed a very good example to his children of how to react to a situation like that!

I'd like to think I'd laugh at her, alternatively put the kids and wife in the car out of earshot and offer to "help her back to her car". But probably mostly laugh at her.

Quite right! It's very easy to see red if someone is pushing your buttons. He did a good job at not letting her. Kudos!

Haha, yes quite a good approach. Laughing at her would probably irritate her more but it'd be quite good!

I think it's laughable that the woman comes over to the truck, all guns blazing, calling it a gas-guzzling piece of ******, telling the wife to shut the ****** up when told not to swear in front of the children, interrupting the wife later on while she's on her phone or talking to one of the kids... and then accuses the family of not being polite... Some people... :cuckoo:

Maybe it does, I dunno? Nothing at all wrong with looking after the environment, we should all do it  Just don't ram it down our throats and tell us how to live our lives

I wasn't aware that I was ramming anything down anyones throat not that I would anyway!
Appologies if that's how you interpreted my post.

Still doesn't define a so called enviromoron or enviro-freak....... they're not particularly pleasant titles are they?!!!

My apologies Asha I wasn't referring to you or your post. I was referring to people such as the woman in the clip that thinks she has some 'duty' to impose her misguided, sanctimonious crap on the rest of society whilst showing what a really vile member of society she has become.

Uh... what has being fat got to do with the environment?

well

a) carrying excess weight increases your fuel consumption

and

b) food miles... nuff said

I'd also have been inclined to ask her how she justifies the environmental damage caused in mining and producing the metals for the batteries in the pious

I saw a very similar thing a while back when a bloke with an L200 warrior pick up got attacked by a female tree hugger because he had his engine running to warm up his kids after they had all had a walk over the Long Mynnd. He did well to keep his cool like this chap in the video, im afraid in both cases I would of not been able to remain calm & would of told her exactly where to go.:bang:

Lighten up bud, I was joking. ;)

I too support the protection of our environment, particularly our natural waterways as I go fly fishing during the warmer months for wild trout.

There's a difference between an environmentalist who gets fundamental issues across by reasonable debate and educating the public in a polite manner; and a woman in a car shouting rants across a car park at a young family - quite obviously she has a screw loose somewhere.

A fair point, but the same could be said about any form of transport carrying more than one person.

I honestly have no idea what you mean by this. Could you please elaborate? Are you talking about driving to get food?

One (heavy) person burns more calories to move their mass and therefore produces more CO2 ..... CO2 has caused the hole in the ozone layer to expand, therefore fat people are the cause of the hole in the ozone layer and that means fat people are the cause of Global warming or Climate Change if you prefer :D

Factual theory based on well established and ethically proven factual science provided by the IPCC in their 2009 study sponsored and substantiated by a 1997 study of over 2000 IPCC sponsored scientists who studied climate change over a period of time ;)

I carry a double barrel gun in my car... she would have lost some weight for sure. :bat:

Disclaimer. In case you people take me seriously and accuse me of being a psyco! I do not own nor do I carry fire arms.

Yes I could keep my cool .....say nothing back ......it sends that type of person out of their mind!!
My last unfortuante instance like that was a male car driver who was so iiritated with me for making him stop to allow me to cross a pedestrian crossing ...even though he knew i had the right to cross and he was obliged to stop. He continued to knudge forwarwd to the point of pushing his car bumper against my leg . I stopped dead, said nothing for approw 30 seconds, looked him straight in the eye then continued on my way saying nothing.
His face said it all ....fortuanatly for him he had a heart strong enough to cope with the raise in his blood pressure!!! lol

If you approach a zebra crossing too quickly to stop for a pedestrian standing at the crossing who you will be able to see then you are a MORON. PEDESTRIANS ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY. FULL STOP NO EXCEPTIONS! If you can't see whether there is a pedestrian, slow the hell down and make sure there isn't one. It is really quite simple.

Stepping out in front of someone that is distracted might be unwise. Make sure you can step back out of the way.

Both absolutely wrong:

Highway Code

Rules for pedestrians

Crossings
18 At all crossings. When using any type of crossing you should:

always check that the traffic has stopped before you start to cross or push a pram onto a crossing
always cross between the studs or over the zebra markings. Do not cross at the side of the crossing or on the zig-zag lines, as it can be dangerous
You MUST NOT loiter on any type of crossing.

19 Zebra crossings. Give traffic plenty of time to see you and to stop before you start to cross. Vehicles will need more time when the road is slippery. Wait until traffic has stopped from both directions or the road is clear before crossing.
Remember that traffic does not have to stop until someone has moved onto the crossing. Keep looking both ways, and listening, in case a driver or rider has not seen you and attempts to overtake a vehicle that has stopped.

20 Where there is an island in the middle of a zebra crossing, wait on the island and follow Rule 19 before you cross the second half of the road – it is a separate crossing.

Don't even get me started on idiotic parents who stick their child's pushchair/buggy/pram onto the crossing in front of a car to make them stop.

:plusone:

I've seen some crazy things done by mothers with prams when crossing the road. Can they really not wait the few extra seconds for a gap in traffic rather than racing across expecting traffic to stop because she has a baby?! Some risks just aren't worth taking for the sake of a few moments.

I know nothing about todays cars etc. But I do get peed off with some ladies (mainly) who seem to want and own a 'kin great 4X4 to pick their kids up from school and to travel from their sububia estate to the town centre to shop. I'm not generalising either, there seem to be so many people (mainly middle-aged women) who loves a 'kin great 4X4! Why is that?

With regards to the lady in the vid, well she has a problem for sure, but agree with Leigh that some comments she has got aqre just wrong.

Completely illegal, for a start, there is no lawful way for the bicycle to be ridden on the pavement.

Absolute rubbish!

There are miles (literally) of pavements in my area that are signposted 'pedestrians and cyclists' :rules:

Cos most of them imo are fat and overweight, and its the only thing capable of transporting them around.

Very unfair comment, the private schools in Cambridge have a grass verge outside them so i'm sure an offroad vehicle is essential to traverse such an obstacle along with full walking gear including ski stick type poles

All credit though to those women, they must be up about four in the morning getting that tarted up before they chuck their little Harrry Potters out of the wagon fully loaded with every accessory known to academia. See one most mornings who actually looks like she is dressed up ready to go on the game, daresay those private schools charge a fair whack though

In most cases, nothing. However, if this woman is so set on saving the environment to stop and abuse a complete stranger for having their engine running, I would expect that she would be doing everything she can possible do before reaching that point.

Now arguably the biggest factor in regards to fuel economy is weight, which she seems to have excess ammounts of. Not to mention the additional food miles etc it will have likely taken for her to reach it.

So no issue with fat people, I have a few lb's i could do with losing myself, just pointing out the hypocasy if it.
