Could you keep your cool?

Yes I could keep my cool .....say nothing back ......it sends that type of person out of their mind!!
My last unfortuante instance like that was a male car driver who was so iiritated with me for making him stop to allow me to cross a pedestrian crossing ...even though he knew i had the right to cross and he was obliged to stop. He continued to knudge forwarwd to the point of pushing his car bumper against my leg . I stopped dead, said nothing for approw 30 seconds, looked him straight in the eye then continued on my way saying nothing.
His face said it all ....fortuanatly for him he had a heart strong enough to cope with the raise in his blood pressure!!! lol

I would have been very tempted to tell her that I had gone to that spot to look at the view that she was ruining, not to mention that over the course of its life, the truck was probably less poluting (allowing for manufacturing wastes etc) than her ****ing Pious.

"I'd have revved my engine "

He did !!
His attempt at intimidation didn't work!
Don't be kidded that i didn't feel uncomfortable inside but it's how you express yourself to this type of person that counts!

I think my response would have been somewhere along the lines of....

If you are so concerned about the environment, then Prius or no Prius, you should stop carrying around excess weight. Fatty.

it's the way she comes over effing and jeffing (infront of the children), then tells the mum to get out of her face? grrr...

Ah! She was driving a Toyota Pious, obviously...

(Edit - Apologies, Nod - didn't see you'd already coined that particular phrase! But you're probably right, with the manufacturing cost to the environment - especially if Clarkson, Hammond and May are to be believed...)

And what did you prove by doing that?
What if he was hurrying home because his wife called him to say she was in labor?
Or his child was taken to the hospital?
Or what ever...

He wouldn't have stopped or either gone round/open the window and explain.

Anyway i would have played at her own game and said I called the cops as she was following me and I was worried for my childs safety and the mere fact she swore in-front of a child would have been enough to report her. Seeing as she seems one of those types to get her self into trouble without realising it.

I'm sure he would have taken the time to tell me he had an emergency and yes i would been respectful and let him go.

What did I prove? ..... that he didnt have the right to ignore the highway code and intimidate me!
I watch everyday many old people unable / frightened to cross the roads because motorists will not stop even when the are legally obliged!

Oh yes, sure he would, especially to a sensible person who is trying to confront a 2 tone car. Sorry.

Stepping on the road JUST because you have a right to do so is not very wise. He might have got distracted and killed you there. Of course he would have been punished for that, but whether that would have helped YOU is a big question.

I'm far from advocating those motorists. But pedestrians should also consider whether it's safe to cross the road - a car can't stop INSTANTLY just because it is obliged to do so.

No not trying to confront ...simply crossing the road!

Considering he was at crawling speed and simply nudged forward to intimidate......next time i will treat like God and ensure he has priority no matter what!

I am a motorist ....... I know exactly wether a motorist has enough distance to stop ...in addition, being a motorcyclist also, I "eyeball" the motorist so there is no doubt whatsoever that io have been seen BEFORE I step into the road.

Noetheless than you for your replies ...I do hope to have the pleasure of requiring the services of your car brakes upon my next visit to the uk!!

If you approach a zebra crossing too quickly to stop for a pedestrian standing at the crossing who you will be able to see then you are a MORON. PEDESTRIANS ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY. FULL STOP NO EXCEPTIONS! If you can't see whether there is a pedestrian, slow the hell down and make sure there isn't one. It is really quite simple.

Stepping out in front of someone that is distracted might be unwise. Make sure you can step back out of the way.

It seems in my reply that it looks as if i have edited your posting Gunnar...appologies for that but i'm sure it can be worked out that i replied to each of your comments.

And I totally agree.

But I don't want to die just to prove that the motorist who killed me is a moron. That's why I never ever step on the road unless i'm 200% sure that he is seeing me and stopping

I'm always cautious around zebra crossings but one thing that gets on my t*ts is cyclists riding on the path who expect me to stop for them to cross.

I don't know how the law stands on this but it really irritates me when they weave along the pavement and without looking back at the last minute swing to cross the zebra crossing and then swear and gesticulate at me when I continue across the crossing.

Not saying they all do it but it happens a lot in my home town :)

So why did the ranting idiot stand and breathe in all the fumes that she was so busy shouting about

What a horrible excuse of a human being . What gave her the right ,the hubby was so cool in his reaction ,can't say i would've stayed that calm in that situation, fare play to him .

Having watched the video now, I do agree this woman's behaviour is completely absurd and wildly inappropriate, but the tediously inevitable barrage of sexist, hateful remarks (funny how people will always, always, always focus on a woman's appearance in their remarks and accompany those remarks with very gender-specific insults, but very rarely do the same about a man) posted in response demonstrate that the majority of people out there are intolerable idiots.

I'm impressed that the guy managed to keep his cool like that, as I'd almost certainly have lost my temper.

Two remarks about her appearance out of 25, hardly constitutes a barrage, and neither of them were gender specific....you ghost hunting again?

Sorry, I should have specified that I was referring to the 600+ replies posted on the link itself, not this thread.

My bad, sorry.

Seriously, some of the stuff posted in those comments is outright disgusting.

With such gems as:

Hope she's chocking on a drumstick and dies in her ****in fag mobile parked in her own garage and rots there for a week or two... That's how annoying this fat commie bitch is to me!

and

oh ****...look around for witnesses, then hit that bitch over the head, put her in the back, call a friend with a pig farm bout 2 states away, tell him to starve the pigs till you get there, then feed that useless sack of **** to them pigs...yee-haw problem solved, the perfect crime!

I really just can't help but despair for humanity in general :/ And it seems the majority of those hundreds of replies are in a similar vein.

I'd have revved my engine

yep mine would have been bouncing off the rev limiter....... "sorry fat duck, I cannot hear you, you what?"

That alone is one good reason not to live in the US of A.

Oh I have done similar..... not laughed, as such but just spoke in Spanish... "Lo siento, no comprendo, Que es el problemo? Que?" and then threw in lots of random Spanish.... at which point darling beloved who understands it and can read it, but not speak it so well.... was nearly wetting herself...

I used to be on a tattoo forum, but left because of some of the comments about, specifically, black people and their tattoos. Shows a real lack of intellect from the people making the remarks.

Have you never heard of "keyboard warriors" or the concept of "tongue in cheek" ????

Yeeaaaahhhh... I don't think those comments are tongue in cheek. Those are keyboard warriors, yes, and while they're just cowards with loud mouths hiding behind their computers, the venom they spew nevertheless comes from real hatred and ignorance.

@malo50 - sadly, the internet is an easy platform for idiots to loudly share their idiotic views. It's like youtube comments; whenever, I make the mistake of reading any, I instantly regret it.

Completely illegal, for a start, there is no lawful way for the bicycle to be ridden on the pavement.

Cycling on footways (a path at the side of a carriageway) is prohibited by Section 72 of the Highway Act 1835, amended by Section 85(1) of the Local Government Act 1888. This is punishable by a fixed penalty notice of £30 under Section 51 and Schedule 3 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.

And case law already stipulates that a cyclist only becomes a pedestrian when both feet are on the ground walking the bicycle alongside them, even one wheel on a pedal means the bike is being ridden ( so commits an offence of cycling on footway) and means they are not a pedestrian and have no righ to use a pedestrian crossing as a pedestrian.

Anyone pushing a bicycle is a “foot-passenger” (Crank v Brooks [1980] RTR 441) and is not “riding” it (Selby).

In his judgment in the Court of Appeal in Crank v Brooks, Waller LJ said: “In my judgment a person who is walking across a pedestrian crossing pushing a bicycle, having started on the pavement on one side on her feet and not on the bicycle, and going across pushing the bicycle with both feet on the ground so to speak is clearly a ‘foot passenger’. If for example she had been using it as a scooter by having one foot on the pedal and pushing herself along, she would not have been a ‘foot passenger’. But the fact that she had the bicycle in her hand and was walking does not create any difference from a case where she is walking without a bicycle in her hand.”

here in Basingstoke there are pavements where half the path is a cycle path so I guess cyclists are legally able to ride on the 'pavement'. :p

Cool...... a fat yank bitching about pollution ROFL

Total contradiction in terms:lol:

Sorry - back to the original post there

I would have yelled "Enviro freak!" and got on with my business.

Some people simply aren't worth arguing with, so I find. It goes through one ear, and out the other with no processing in-between by both sides of the brain.

Well said, sadly some people are very narrow-minded with distorted views of themselves.

Another sad example of a brainwashed enviromoron! ..... Feeding her to the pigs gets my vote :D
