Could ISO speed be affecting my pictures (and i'm not talking noise!)

Hi all,

Well i said a couple of weeks ago that i couldn't focus and this was mainly landscape photography that the problem was occuring in. Lately ive been doing alot more wildlife photography requiring me to use high ISO speed and my results have been sharp....


... Now, i just went to take pictures of the moon and i took some at ISO 200 and they were alright then stuck it on ISO 100 both with self timer on a tripod and the ISO 100's came out slightly out of focus ?, i will stick the photos on here if you want ... (oh and i didnt change the focus position of the lens)

hmmm just looking at them the iso 100 is a bit over exposed, but i will let you be the judge

Both shots were taking with a tripod and using the self timer function
 
the moon is notoriously difficult to focus on. And also 1/60 is really far to slow for the moon and that focal length!!! Can we have another subject :)
 
well i dont have a iso 200 for any others but i can show you a few that are dodgey at iso 100

no exposure comp or anything

the shots is a bit crap anyway but im sure you will see what i mean...

Are you sure you are focussing on the right part of the frame? Are you using manual or automatic focus? You have some serious purple fringing going on there. And why were you on f/29??? that is a crazy aperture to use, that really effects your image quality.
 
i was focusing a third into the shot and i also did some focussed on the castle, and f/29 so i could actually focus the flippin thing !
 
well i should rephrase that f/29 not to focus it but for it to be in focus
 
to try and get everything in focus
 
Looking at the shot of the castle, it really doesn't look as though you'd need f/29 to get the required depth of focus - there isn't a huge amount in the foreground.

And, as already noted, using tiny apertures can really have an effect on image quality - you've got quite a lot of chromatic aberration, and the sensor dust shows up! The dust is unlikely to be that obvious had you taken the shot at f/11, for example
