Cotswold Cameras

Because you won't get the tracking info until the item is with a UK courier, its got to get from HK first
My fedex tracking was right from HK to the uk.

Ordered on a Wednesday iirc delivered on the Tuesday of the following week

Nobody will ever answer the phone... it always directs you to email. As someone suggested, I think this is a one man band.

I have to be honest, I think the communication from Panamoz is far superior and they will remain my first place to shop even though they are slightly more expensive

A friend received what she asked for in good time; I have read of others waiting weeks and weeks without communication. It's whether you want to take a chance that he gets it in when he orders it.

Well I email them at 9am this morning for an update of my order placed on the 27 Sept and as yet no reply.

When I asked about delivery time scale he confirmed 7-12 working days. So the latest fro delivery will be Tuesday next week. He also confirmed that the camera is shipped to him from Hong Kong and then forwarded on to me using Royal Mail. In case your interested Panamoz ships the camera direct from Hong Kong to your home address

Strange, thats different to my Cotswold order about 3 weeks ago, Fedex straight from HK to my address.

I am getting a Nikon ZFC in black

This was the email I got when I asked about delivery last week:
Your order is shipped from our overseas warehouse to the UK. It typically takes 7-12 working days for delivery. We don’t hold items until we gather multiple orders but rather process each order individually. However, the shipping time accounts for international logistics, and we typically use the Royal Mail, DHL, or FedEx for the delivery.

Camera arrived today.

One thing thats different to Panamox, the camera menu in in Chineese

Same guy listed as director and secretary.
Old director from HK(?)
Shipping from overseas
Odd trading hours
Questions about tracking numbers.
Yeah, seems legit. Can't imagine you having any issues now or in the future.

Good to hear all went well in the end
my last two purchases came from Cotswold cameras without and problems and good savings
i wouldn't have any hesitation in using them again

Having recently purchased a new camera and lenses through Cotswolds cameras I have to say I found them very commutative, updating and confirming details. Very happy with their service and saved me a fortune.

I haven't read all the posts here but will just add that I ordered a Fuji Gf500 mm lens a few weeks ago and got it super fast. I have just ordered a Canon R1 from them at £1800 cheaper than UK suppliers. It comes with a 3 year guarantee but hopefully I will never have to test how good it is.

Have you received your R1 yet Gordon?

I have been shopping for a new lens and Cotswold came back as the cheapest, beating Panamoz by £200

I notice that they give a 3 year warranty (same as Panamoz) has anyone used there warranty ???

I intend to use PayPal for a bit of security so if it goes tits up then I can use there complaints procedure.

Well I emailed Tina at Panamoz to see if they would price match Cotswold and today she got back to me with an offer of £100 of their price of the lens, still £100 more than Cotswold though, I don't know how they can make much of a profit on the lens to be honest. Might just back to Tina and accept her amended price as I trust Panamoz having used them before whereas Cotswold are a bit of an unknown entity to me.

Bought a R5 II from Cotswold with no issues. Now less than £3 grand.

Cotswold are a good company to deal with and I have bought a few items from them over the years. You will not have any issues with them.

I bought a ZFc Black from them, delivery took 10 days from date of order. I actually placed 2 separate orders with them as I also ordered a Nikon 40mm f2.8 Z SE. The orders were placed about 8 hours apart and both items were sent in the same box. I emailed them with a query and they were quick to respond...

On arrival the menu needed changed to English.... Did a serial number check and mine came up as a Japanese serial number...

They’re basically drop shipping, all they do is when they receive your order, they then order from China and forward the parcel on to you.

Exactly, they are acting as your agent to import the order.
Given those conditions I would want to see what is stated on the customs declaration.

Cotswold have filed to be struck off the Companies register and be dissolved. Unfortunately, I only saw that after ordering a lens. I would avoid. Fortunately I've used Paypal so should be safe.

Check the Company records.

There are two Cotswold Companies registered at Companies House - the second company which is refered to in the T&Cs on the website is Cotswold UK Cameras Ltd - and appears to still be trading

From the T&Cs

Cotswold Cameras operates through multiple entities.CHATEAUBRIAND LIMITED (Hong Kong) handles the sourcing and import of products to the UK warehouse and dispatch to the customers. Cotswold UK Cameras Limited (UK) is responsible for sales, customer service, and order processing in the UK, with all prices including VAT-equivalent amounts and duties (since we are not VAT registered). CHATEAUBRIAND LIMITED also supports logistics and administration for product distribution within the UK.

Cotswold UK Cameras Limited
Company Number 14313543
Address: 128, City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, UNITED KINGDOM.

@Monopix, yes the original company Cotswold Cameras Ltd (09101906) has a filing against it to be dissolved. Both companies are registered at the same address, though have different directors.

So just for the record, seems this is not the currently active business but a previous one that has filed to be dissolved. Sorry if I caused any unnecessary consternation.

Also, I should add, I had reason to contact them this morning regarding my order and I got a very prompt reply that resolved my issue. So very happy so far.

I've used other grey importers in the past and never had a problem.
I've decided to get back into photography and Cotswold cameras prices are good so I've ordered a Canon R10 with kit lens, RF-S 10-18 and a RF-S 24-105 IS.
I was also tempted to go for the RF 100-400 IS but not sure if I want to get back into wildlife photography.
The whole point for me going mirrorless is the reduced weight.

How did the purchase go with them? And how long a go was it.

Thank you

I ordered a Sony A7R V and 50mm 1.4 lens from them about a month ago. It took 7 days to come. Communication was good and I would buy from them again.

It was fine no problem at all. If I remember correctly the longest a delivery took was about 14 days.
Some years ago I ordered a lens from e-infinity and a camera bag from a company in Wales at the same time.
Due to heavy snow in Wales the lens arrived a day before the bag.

I'm hoping my new kit comes quickly.
We're going on holiday in early June and I'd like to get familiar with it beforehand.

always got the item from them - might take some time to get shipped as they're at the mercy of overseas dispatchers but have always arrived.

I've received an email informing me that my kit has been dispatched.
The DHL tracking number is telling me the ETA is Monday 19th
I'll be really impressed if that holds up.

I ordered from Cotswold Cameras on Wednesday 14th and UPS Tracking is saying should be with me Monday 19th

I placed my order on Tuesday 13th.
Interesting that mines coming via DHL and yours is via UPS.
I wonder if they have multiple sources.

They may have, just hope it does turn up on Monday, ready for half term :)
