We have been given the opportunity to rejoin Costco tomorrow, is it any good lately, been 3 years since we were last there.
I know they are good for tyres.

Costco is good. But i always find myself saying "i'm never gonna use all that"

Well we went and joined up once more, quite a few new lines since last time, oil still nice and cheap and you can buy enough wash n wax in a huge plastic drum for IIRC £15 to last a lifetime:D.
Nice buffet laid on for the new customers and we also got a lucky bag on leaving which contained two bottles of wine and a box of ferera rochas chocs:)
I bought a big pack of microfibre cloths as a treat for my car and mrs galaxy got her eye on huge circular pine garden table with seats attached so itwill be a trailer job next time we visit which will be midweek or late night as it was really busy today.
£29 for the two of us and we can also take guests so the investment will be worth it.

How do you go about joining? Is it not businesses only?

For the public I believe it is by invitation via your employer in this instance because she is currently working for Northumberland county council p/time. before she was working for the Magistrates again it had something to do with the council as they were her employers.
I think business can join anyway.

For the public, you have to be employed in a certain sector (Education, public sector etc etc).

If youre joining as a business, it doesnt matter what the business does.

That figures Magistrates was public sector and she now teaches craft and paperwork part time in an evening class.

When I joined Costco at Trafford Park, I didn't have an invite from work as it's more about who you work for.

If you work for the Services (police, fire brigade, medical peeps), financial services (banks etc) and loads of others (that I can't remember) then thats no problem.

All you need as far as I can remember is your most recent payslip to prove you work for said company/service, proof of home address and then pay the £29 for the 2 membership cards.

Use the link from MGTF 135 to find the nearest Costco and give them a bell. They will tell you exactly who can join and what you need to bring along.

Enjoy and make sure you clear some space in the freezer before you go. :D

And we have just collected a chest freezer my son no longer needs to put in the garage:D

Fill your tyres with nitrogen as well:thinking: never got a chance to read up on what that does.

Its ment to be better for the interior of tyres as air degrades quality of the rubber hence nitrogen is better.

i have been a member at costco for ages...got some snaps printed off ...family party...paid £10.20ish... for 80prints...had 47 printed out at jessops cost £13.50!!! costco are a good deal......jackie

I've read up the nitrogen thing as I recently bought 2 tyres from Costco. From what I understand nitrogen is only marginally beneficial, but the thing I couldn't work out is, what do you when you need to fill your tyres? Surely topping them up with air would negate any benefits that nitrogen offers?

They were the cheapest I could find on Michelin Primacy HP by £13 per tyre, but were almost £60 per tyre cheaper than Kwik-Fit (no surprises there).

Costco is amazing though. The thing to remember is that they are about value for money as opposed to just being cheap.

There are a load of promotions on at the moment, I went in today and bought 4 Michelin 195/50/15 tyres for £169 fitted balanced and filled with nitrogen

they're normally £48 each but the promotion is £20 off 4 tyres up to 15" £40 off 4 16 & 17" and £80 off 4 18" and above

what I have done in the past is bought 4, had 2 fitted then took the other 2 home to be fitted at a later date.

Costco is fantastic for returns, i'd had the 2 tyres about 9 months then PXd the car so I took them back and got a full refund.

Another good thing they do is if you buy something and it's faulty they don't exchange it, they refund you, you then go and buy another and get 12 months warranty again

try doing that at comet

I was talking to the tyre manager while they were fitting my tyres, he said a woman bought a 2 litre bottle of wine back with about 1/3 a litre left in it , she complained it had given her a headache so they refunded her money :D:D:D

£169 for 4! I paid £156 for 1 x 215/50/17 W. :'( Amazing the difference a couple of inches makes ;)

the pressure of nitrogen doesnt increase with heat as much as normal air
so if the perfect pressure in your tyre is 30psi it will stay closer to 30psi when you drive than air will.

i was in Costco today.. Got to say its a long time since i've seen a decent bargain in there. You can beat most costco prices if you shop around.

their 2GB CF cards have been around £17 (for Sandisk Extreme II) for about two years now!
ipod touch and PS3 are cheaper in dixons!

Recently visited again, I think i have a Mobil 1 fetish, now sat with 4 tubs of the stuff, mind at the price and oil changes every 3k beats having to pay double at the motor factor.

Rob.

Try the bantry mussels - cost about £3 for a big bag - bloody lovely!!!

Prints are good too - nice vibrant colours!
