Has anybody worked out their actual per-roll costs for B&W chemicals? (ie, not factoring in the cost of buying the equipment). Someone out there must be keeping a spreadsheet :p

Edit: I'm especially interested in 120

This was from a few years ago but the prices of chemicals haven't changed too much and it serves as a useful rough guide.

Oh, brilliant thanks. Not sure why I couldn't find that in a search.

So, basically, a *lot* cheaper than a lab. It wouldn't take many rolls to cover the cost of the equipment, and the fun of doing it myself, and the fast turnaround. Interesting . . .

B&W is much much cheaper than a lab - and often the turnaround is significantly quicker doing it yourself, especially when you don't have to worry about postage (which is becoming ever more expensive).

C-41 is a slightly different prospect - the chemical kits are quite expensive and often work out to a similar price as a mini lab.

In terms of cost, I think B&W is only worth it if you develop at home - otherwise I'd either stick to colour, or shoot C-41 B&W film. The cost of lab processed B&W can be extortionate.
