I bought a D810 in February for £1549 and the same supplier is now charging £1699. In fact if I look at a number of suppliers they are all approximately £150 more. I know the exchange rate can fluctuate but I'm pretty sure it isn't that volatile. Does anyone know why there's such a variance?

IIRC price increases were announced on Nikon products some months back :)

There are a few anomalies such as the 50mm 1.4 and 70-200mm f4, but even with the recent increases the majority of Nikon lenses are quite a bit cheaper than they were 2 years ago.

Given inflation, exchange rates and the fact that lenses don't really age like camera bodies, that's not bad really. The increases look big because a lot of stuff took a fairly big dip in price late last year. The Camerapricebuster price graphs are pretty interesting, similar pattern for quite a bit of Nikon gear.
