Cost effective portable backgrounds for portraits

Hi,
I have been asked to do some family portrait work and was wondering what the most cost effective background and support system were?
Needs to be portable and able to be set up quickly.

You'll be looking at over £100 for a single colour backdrop, I've been looking for similar! I need the background support and at least one (maybe two...) colours.

But there's ebay and other places. I was looking at the small portable background things but I don't reckon they'll be much good.
 
Photodeals large one is good (has a train), plenty of other options out there, have a look at Warehouse Express. Pop ups go up in seconds!
 
Most cost effective imo is the Lastolite Hilite. If you consider your time in the equation, the Hilite is simple to set up and use and results are excellent.

With the larger cloth backdrops you can end up spending more time editing to get the right look. Sure you might need some tweaks with the hilite too but it's quicker and easier. You don't need a support system as it holds itself up too.
 
How big has it got to be? if 2m x 3m is big enough (including train) and you don't mind fighting a pop up one :D have a look at the photosel ones on ebay.

I got the chroma green/black/white one.. not bad for the money at all.

Can anyone recommend any reversible ones? Either just the material or the material and support system?
 
Go retro and get one of the ugly blue marble effect ones we all had our school photo's taken by!:)
 
Cambsno how do you stand that photo deals large one up?
 
Another vote for the lastolite hilite. I purchased a stand and muslins but then purchased the hilite on the time saving element, much more of a professional look aswell.
 
the photo deals one has a train, is black on one side and white the other. It packs up pretty small. My only issue with it is getting the damn thing to stand up.
 
I bought one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Photo-stu...=UK_Photography_Backdrops&hash=item337524fc3e in june last year and it's great for my needs. It doesn't get much use but it's still in as new condition and works perfectly. The backdrops are excellent quality cloth and the creases drop out very quickly when folded without having to iron. They aren't the cheapest sets on ebay but they are good quality and ridgid when assembled.
