Should have known better than to buy another Cosina. I already had 3 different models and all work perfectly. A fourth has no working metering but I'm determined to use it on the M setting at least once. Bought a Cosina CT 20 which in immaculate condition and looks as though it is fresh out of the box. There are 3 modes as it were. B - bulb X - which I can use for a manual setting if needed plus AUTO. Batteries are in and the self timer lights up and works. The shutter curtain works perfectly on all three modes, it definitely opens when fired. BUT, the metering diodes don't light up to show if the exposure is okay or not. Could it just be the diodes or is it a case of the camera is unable to calculate what shutter speed to use?

I suppose the easy way to tell is to set it to Auto and select your aperture. If the shutter speed reacts to various lighting conditions at least you will know if it is metering, or not. From what I can make out it's an aperture priority only camera.

Cheers @Plain Nev . There's a very slight crackling sound as I depress the shutter button. Loose connection?

I wouldn't know where to start on that sort of thing, I'm afraid. Does it still activate the shutter?
Yes. Shutter curtain opens on AUTO and X and B. That's more than it did for the Cosina CSM I had. Appreciate your feedback.
