Corrupted Jpegs with ACR (sorted, I hope ;-))

Hello, I've started to have some weird trouble with ACR when (I think) I process/save more than one image.

I was trying to do a HDR, so I opened up 5 images in ACR (CS5) and just made the lens correction, and then saved as Jpgs. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with the image thumbnails in Bridge, so I opened up the images in Photomatix and processed the 5 images. I wanted to take the HDR sky and put it back into a normally exposed image, but when I opened both images in CS5 they look like this;

When they should look like this;

Now all the images look as they should in Windows Explorer, Photomatix and Picasa, but if I open them in CS5 they look corrupted like the first image, even the image that has been processed and saved as a Jpeg in Photomatix. :thinking:

Does anyone know what is going wrong, or has seen this before? :shrug:

Can you just clarify, are you starting with raw or jpeg? when you open acr, is it photoshops acr or from bridge? and which version of acr are you using in cs5?
If you open one image in acr and save it do you get the same problem? and if you edit a few without lens correction do you still get the same issue?
 
I had 5 RAW images at different exposures, which I opened in ACR. I made a Lens Correction, and applied it to all 5 images, saved them, and then closed ACR. In Bridge, the new Jpegs looked OK.

I opened Photomatix, and the 5 images again looked OK, so I processed them to make the Tonemapped image.

I wanted the Tonemapped sky, and the building from one of the original converted Jpegs, so I opened them in CS5. Both the Tonemapped Jpeg, and the original Lens Corrected Jpeg, look like the corrupted image above. :(

Outside of CS5 the Jpegs look as they should, but in CS5 they look corrupted.

I have the latest version of ACR for CS5.

I've just opened 5 RAW files and saved without making any changes, and the same problem happened. If I save one image, the same thing happens, where last night it was OK saving one image. :bang:

Again as previews in Bridge, and outside of CS5, the images look fine, but that doesn't help if I want to do any more editing. :shake:

Any ideas why CS5 will not display them as properly? :shrug:

Can I just get someone to confirm that only the top image above is corrupted?



I've just transferred the images to a laptop with CS5 on, and opened up the HDR Jpeg, and the normal Jpeg, and the images opened as they should. :thinking:

I did the edit I wanted, saved as a PSD file, and transferred it back to the first computer. I opened up the PSD file with the CS5 there, and both layers are still corrupted. :bang:
 
Yes only the top image looks corrupted here.
Have you got the latest version of camera raw for cs5 6.7 ? if not it's available here http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5373 if your already using it try opening the raw images in photoshop proper rather than from bridge and see if that helps, if theres still a problem I'd suggest you trash the photshop preferences file (hold down ALT+CTRL+SHIFT while starting photoshop) and see if that helps.

Yes, I have the latest version of ACR I can get. (note my sticky at the top of this forum ;) :D)

The ACR version I have is 6.7.0.339 apparently. :shrug:

I just tried opening one RAW file from within CS5 as you suggested, made some changes and saved as a Jpeg. When I re-opened the Jpeg in CS5 it looked how it should. :)

Tried it again and chose 'Open Image' from ACR and the file was corrupted. :(

Tried it again saving the one RAW as a Jpeg, and then re-opening in CS5 and again it looks as it should. :)

Tried it with three RAW files, opened from CS5, edited, then saving as Jpegs and re-opening them in CS5 and they're all corrupted. :(

Looks like I may be able to open one RAW file at a time, edit, save, and re-open in CS5 if needed. :bang:


Again following your advice, I trashed the Preferences file on start up of CS5, opened three RAW files from Bridge, edited, and saved as Jpegs. I then re-opened the Jpegs in CS5 and the Jpegs look OK. So hopefully that has fixed the problem. :)
